I have a 7 year old Jack Russell Terrier. He's always been a cuddly little guy. When he wakes up in the morning he sometimes lays his head on my face. Is that an attention getter, or a sign of afftection? He's always slept with me since he was 6 months old. He's pretty much a mama's boy.

I love Jack Russell's, they are so cute and affectionate. I don't see any concern for his laying on your face tho. My opinion, I think it could be a little bit of both, attention and affection. If you are bothered or worried by him doing that. Just move him down a bit and give him a kiss on the head. Enjoy him, he sounds like a great little guy.

Lisa, I think it is a little of both. I have a male Jack Russell who will be 11 years old this month. He has always slept with me. They are great dogs aren't they. Have you ever heard of a toy called the babble ball? I got one for my Jack and he loves it. Good luck with your baby. Active little guys aren't they.

I have a little dog too and he also does that. He didn't do it until we had him for about ten months and by then we were really close so I'm saying it's a bit of both. A little love and a little attention makes a dog live a happy life so continue doing what your doing and he will continue loving you.

Lots of times JRTs seem like they are being sweet even though they are exerting their authority over you. When a dog puts his head on your head or neck he really is showing that he is top dog...but having said that, as long as he listens to basic commands and doesn't bite at you he is a good dog. Just remember now that he sleeps in your bed you will never be able to change that...my JRT won't budge when we ask him to get off...spoiled! But it was my choice to spoil him.

It sounds like an affection thing, he could easily get attention by barking or nudging you. My girlfriends parents have a puppy and whenever he knows you are awake he jumps on the bed and tries to nudge your face.

I agree with Redawg..Its actually a dominance thing, saying he's the alpha dog. But like she said if he listens to you and the commands you give him, thats not anything to worry about.

yes he is being affectionate then again he may be doing that because he is trying to wake you up so that you can take him out but I basically think that he is just telling his mommy that he loves her.

Affection. Animals are more like us then we tend to realize. They can show love for us just as we can for them. ^_^
