Dogs - February 2007

She plays for awhile then she just sits and cries, she cries when anybody leaves even though there is people in the house still, she lays down by door and cries but when I open it she doen't do anything. I have another pup so shes not lonley, I pay attention to both the same way and shes not in heat what can be wrong?

I have a 2yr old mini dachshund(sorry if i cant spell it right), and just recently i got a new puppy shih-tzu and puddle mix. But now, my 2 yr old dachshund always growl(but not a very angry growl) at my new puppy. It seems to me that she doesnt like the new pup. What can i do for my dachsund to accept my new puppy?? will they have a nice relationship after a few months??

I have a 1 year old Pit Bull and he chews on EVERYTHING rock concrete paper boxes you name it he's prolly eatin it.... I have been told having him fixed will solve this problem but i'm not sure I have to find something or he's going to eat my whole house!!!! and I'm going to have to give him away and that is noth something I want to do PLEASE HELP

when ever she goes to jump or some she screams in pian she is a 3 year old german shaprd and i dont no what wrong. and late at night shes in pain to. she walks and runs around the house fine and it s not like she dont want to do anything cuz shes still active. what could be wrong with her

I got a Chow-labrador and a chihuahua. They don't get along at all, and neither one is house broken. The big dog almost killed the little dog a couple of weeks ago. I only got one yard, which I divided into two, so that the dogs be separated. The problem is I live in a very warm state and the little dog is already 12 years old and pants in the heat. I don't want to give either dog, because the big dog is mine for 4 years and the little for 12. For he last couple of years my sister kept the little dog, but she moved and now both dogs are back with me. Help!

Hi! I have a full-blooded Labrador Retriever and right now she is only 7 weeks old. I begin a training course at 14 weeks with her and she will know all the basic commands. My question is: Since Labs are bred to do stuff, I want to train my puppy to be a therapy dog. What do I need to do to train her to be a therapy dog? She is really sweet and would rather sleep on your lap all day instead of running around. She really likes people, so I think if she is a therapy dog, that will be good. Do you have to be certified to be a therapy dog? What all will I need?

i had my dog since i was 7 or 8 years old and im now 18 about to be 19 soon and my dog is having problems walking up and down the stairs and he coughs up his hair and i told my dad many time i think we should put him to sleep and i was wondering is it health for him to be going though all of this and if it is not how do i tell my dad to put him to sleep already (my dad loves his dogs and says they are like my brothers and my sisters and i tell him to put them to sleep all the time and he is hard headed)

I've got a 3 year old poodle who is underweight. Im very concerned about him. He is so underweight that I can feel his spine & all his ribs, including his hip bones. I had blood tests performed when this 1st started & everything was normal except for high enzyme levels. Bile acid test was performed which was normal thank god. He slowly gained weight but has lost it all again. Im deeply worried. He eats everything in sight, pies, peas potatoes, gravy etc including 3 bowl full of dog food and dry dog food too. Nothing is making him gain weight. He drinks a lot and seems to shake a lot like he is always cold. Hes also very energetic. Hes upto date on his vaccinations and worming tablets. This is not worms! My dogs ill & I dont know what with. Any ideas what could be wrong with him? Plz help. Thank you.

After obedience school at PetsMart I took my Jack Russell Terrier puppy to get his nails trimmed at PetsMart and when they were cutting them in front of me he was scared and was biting but they were doing it right. They then took him to the back to help get control of him so they cut his nails and I heard him yelp loudly but I thought it was just him being scared. When they were finished he was back to his regular self like nothing happened. It was untill we got home that I noticed he was missing a nail on his paw but its the one far to the side but it wasnt bleeding. Sueing is not an answer because people make mistakes so what should I do?

i have a chihuahua who i got in May of 2006 she was around 2 months.but the breeder i got it from never told me the birthday.so is the birthday march 14 or february 28.but if she was born on feb wouldnt she be 3 months?help!!

I adopted a two year old German Shepherd and his ears don't stand up like a German Shepherd's should. I know some dogs have to have their ears clipped to stand up. Were his supposed to be clipped or should they have stood up naturally by now?

My newly acquired chihuahua puppy cries and cries at a spot on the wall near an electrical outlet. She cries constantly to get downstairs and when we let her go she runs right to this spot and cries and cries. We thought she was hearing something and have unplugged the tv and such in the room. Just wondering what else she could be sensing.

debating if I should spend $ 100.00 on puppy classes at petsmart (for 8) or purchase one of these online puupy training online books or dvds online..any suggustions..or possible on a good internet one? any luck with that? Or should I go to petsmart? I now cairn terriers can be difficult so I wanted to get right on it. Puppy is coming home at 9 weeks, march 9...
