Yes. Obedience-wise,Petsmart is fine. If you ever have behavioural issues (aggression,ETC) I reccomend seeing a professional behaviourist. But for just obedience and socialization,Petsmart is a great place!

Take the Petsmart Classes. They are great! I have a 6 month old Bichonpoo who is going to take her finals and graduate from the puppy class next week. She is doing great. She learned basic obedience. How to socialize with other dogs and people. How to behave in public. How to walk on a leash. She is a much better behaved puppy than when she started the class 7 weeks ago. I highly recommend the puppy classes at Petsmart.

Well depends on if the trainer is good or not. I would recommend that you try to find out info about the trainer, because some are better than others. My dog is currently in a Petsmart training class, and she is doing really good. But at the same time, she is learning practically the same stuff that I taught her from a training book. ::shrugs::

Petsmart classes are better than nothing, but not much. They only hire trainers who have never taught before. The Petsmart 'trainers' I have seen have no business trying to teach training classes. Go to a kennel or obedience club where the trainers know what they are doing and can help you if you have any problems.
The socialization your pup will get in a Puppy Kindergarten class is priceless, it is hard to find a way tp socialize them like that without going to one. Petsmart is ok, if your only goal is to socialize.

I would not ever in one million years use petsmart for any obedience lessons ... There are actual trainers out there that would be better individually ... I had my pup in puppy kindergarten when he was once just ten weeks old and that i consider it was fairly beneficial ... He was barely two pounds and the opposite pups were of course tremendously greater however i consider that helped him be so good with greater dogs ... "The important and major time for puppy socialization is the primary three months of lifestyles. During this time domestic dogs should be exposed to as many new persons, animals, stimuli and environments as can be done safely and with out inflicting over-stimulation manifested as immoderate worry, with- drawal or avoidance conduct. For that reason, the American Veterinary Society of Animal habits believes that it must be the regular of maintain pups to receive such socialization before they're utterly vaccinated."

well it depends on the type of person you are and the time you have to spend. If you can take charge and follow though than get a good book. I would ask a vet that you trust or you may get one off petsmart web site( you can also call petsmart for advice. ) If you are a push over( no offence) than you will need help from trainer. it dosen't have to be petsmart if you look on line for local trainer or the yellow pages or maybe your vet. Time is always a factor. you may also find it helpful to look up your dog breed online and reasch it from other owners and breeders. Good luck. ( I just adopted a puggle ( from a shelter) and it a lot of work regardless of breed. Puppies are handfulls.

Most of their trainers really aren't that good unless they were dog trainers before working for petsmart. Because PetSmart's pet dog trainer classes are a joke. Check with your local Dog Training Clubs and find people with real experience and not just book experience. I'm sure you can find some fine dog training club in your area for more reasonable prices and no matter what get that dog trained. Plus books can't answer your question if its not already in the book. good luck

I'd recommend the PetSmart classes, there's nothing like getting a "hands-on" demonstration. I actually work at PetSmart, (not a trainer though!) but from talking to the trainers I've come to understand that the point of our classes is to teach YOU how to train your dog, not train your dog for you. That is, they teach you good habits and ways to deal with your dog that you have to keep up with yourself. But I see a lot of happy customers leaving those classes! =)

I would say take the Petsmart puppy classes. They are much better beacuse the Petsmart people would know how to train a puppy. If u train ur puppy threw a book, It might take longer or harder to do then going to Petsmart! I should know...... I took my puppy there to train! ;)
