I have a 2yr old mini dachshund(sorry if i cant spell it right), and just recently i got a new puppy shih-tzu and puddle mix. But now, my 2 yr old dachshund always growl(but not a very angry growl) at my new puppy. It seems to me that she doesnt like the new pup. What can i do for my dachsund to accept my new puppy?? will they have a nice relationship after a few months??

Dogs have personal taste like people do. It's best to let dogs meet before bring them in to a household cause if you have a dominate dog then chances are there they may have issues with other dominatant dogs, by allowing them to meet outside the home you can see if one submits to the other.Since that didn't happen they are now having to work things out on their own. Try not to give the new puppy to much attention for a couple weeks so ur other dog doesn't feel over looked. As to the growling she is prolly just establishing the ground rules for the new guy. Feed them both right at the same time and do everything at the same time for them so they know that they are to be equalls.

When ever a new puppy is introduced into a home where there is an older dog it should be done slowly. The dog you already have does not want to give up its position as head dog. The puppy should be kept in a crate or in a separate room until the older dog accepts it. I kept our puppy in the kitchen with a gate up. After about a week our dog was trying to get the puppy out of the kitchen so they could play. I let the puppy out and they were like old friends. Our dog treated the puppy like it belong to her. Once she saw that the puppy was not taking her place in the house she accepted it.

I think your 2 year old is just telling the puppy the pecking order so to speak. I would not leave them alone, but chances are over time they will become buddies and all will be fine. Just make sure you are giving equal attention to them both so the older one doesn't feel left out or jealous.

I think yes they will get a relethionship( sorry i'm not that good of a speller) after a couple months. But until then, if you ptu yoru 2 puppys together watch out. So be there. Also..I just think the old puppy is kinda jelus too.

they need to get to know eachother what ever you do dont seperate them. let the puppy work its magic. the growls are just giving it some boundrys.
they will be fine in a few months but make shure the old dog gets extra attention when she is jealus like this

My bird dog did that when we got our golden retreiver! But its just dog instinct they will growl because its their house and the other is tresspasing! So dont worry they will get along fine! My dogs have been great together they play all the time! ALL THE TIME! And they will occaisionaly get into a fight but it is not bad at all! They dont hurt each other! So I hope I was some help!

Puppies have very sharp teeth, your doxie is reacting normally, adult dogs have to teach pups proper manners with teeth and such. Keep an eye on them and give the doxie some puppy-free time as well.

they need to get to know each other because your older dog hasn't accepted you new dog yet. the growls are just used to tell the younger puppy what's his boundaries.they will be fine in a few months
