Yesterday and today she started to move as if she had the hiccups. She did not drink any water or anything prior to her actions. I don't know if it is hiccups or something else. Can you give me any advice?

It could very well just be hiccups and it is completely normal for a puppy to have hiccups off and on throughout the day.

Hiccups sometimes start after eating a meal, but can occur at any time and last for up to several minutes.

A hiccup is defined as a non-controllable spasmodic contraction of the diaphragm, causing a beginning inspiration of air that is suddenly stopped by closure of the glottis. The diaphragm is a muscle that separates the chest from the abdomen. It enables the lungs to bring in air during inspiration. When the diaphragm contracts, the air is quickly drawn in, but the glottis, a part of the "voice box," suddenly cuts it off.

Puppy hiccups will come and go. Eventually puppies grow out of them.

There is no overreacting when it comes to wanting to keep your pets safe and healthy and happy :) If you can, take her temperature, and if she has a fever, call the vet back and make an appointment anyway. It's worth the money for a check-up to catch a potential problem before it worsens. If not, just watch her for a day or so. The fact that she's still eating and drinking and playing is a definite good sign. The shaking may just be that she's nervous. Dogs have strange memories, and she may just be associating you with the surgery: that happens a lot after an animal is spayed or neutered, and they become wary of their owner for a little while, until they realize they're not going to be hurt. Dogs sometimes pant when they're excited or worked-up in some way, which can also be a sign of nervousness.

Dogs do get hiccups, even if they don't drink water. But because you only got her three days ago, she is probably very nervous, and a little unsure of her new environment. Just be sure to give her lots of love. It will take time for her to feel comfotable in her new home. When i first got my kitty, she hid for 2 days straight and didn't eat. But around the 3rd or 4th day she started to come down to visit us, and she started to eat. But it took about a week before she was confortable, and about 2 weeks until we saw her true personality. I'm not sure if it will take your dog that long to get comfortable, but it does sound like she is just a little unsure. It sounds like she just had hiccups, but If you are concerned that it is a medical problem, i would take her to the vet, just to get her checked out, and make sure there are not problems. Good Luck, i hope this helps!!
