Aside from the personality of the dog, Greyhounds are very placid and quiet. They love to lay in the sunshine and sleep alot. They need regular exercise as any dog does, but they do not need to run or are hyper contrary to popular belief. They are gentle, quiet (as a breed they do not bark much at all), well behaved and wonderful companions that usually like to be with you all the time. If you are looking for a great dog please consider adopting a retired racer...if they don't get adopted they get put down...by the thousands every year. thats tuff i have never heard of a particular breed being calm i think a littlw bitt of hypernesss comes with the paxkage
get a cat there only hyper when there kittent then there bags of fur

Lhasa Apsos are lively without being hyper. I've owned three of them and absolutely love this breed.

Old dogs are not hyper.

Definately not rat terriers!! I have one that is 8 yrs old, and still plays and jumps as if he was a puppy!!

Large and Giant breeds. Also after they have passed thru puppyhood.

I can't think of any though Golden Retrievers and St. Bernard's can be fairly calm when they are adults.
