I have this lab. I had her since she was a puppy back in 2000. She use to be playful. For example, whenever anybody wake up and leave the bedroom, she would be right by the door waiting to be pet. Now she now like that. All she does now is sleep ALL DAY. The only time she get up for is when I get her food. She does have white hair. So, I know shes getting old and lazy...But I really dont want to put her to sleep. But shes never wants to do nothing nomore. What should I do? thanks

I just wanted to ask if it is normal for female papillons, or any dog for that matter, to begin putting on some extra weight after they have been spayed?

My papillon was spayed about a month ago. She's normally 10 lbs, so when she gains a couple pounds it is very noticeable, and my mom said that it's normal for dogs to gain that weight after her surgery, but I just want to make sure that it isn't something more serious.

As far as I know, she's eating the same amount, and playing and excercising the same amount...unless my mom isn't being truthful about spoiling her and giving her extra treats.

why do people breed dogs...is there any justification for this.
bearing in mind how many abandoned ill treated dogs there are.

can anyone justify this practise or is it all for the glory of the owner and greedy financial gain...

I have a tiny yorkie/peekingense mix and she is 6 pounds at least once a week she has these epipodes where she shakes for all she is worth. She is very smart we have tought her that when she wants more of something that she is too sit up on her back legs and lift both front paws up to her face (she started this on her own) also she loves too be held she is like a little baby, she come up to you and stands up and scratchs at your leg up till you pick her up. She will put her head on you shoulder and is very content. But when she has the eposides that come out of no where I dont now what to do She shakes and wants to be held are these panic attack? Sorry if I babbled. Thanks in advance.

My friend has recently bought an 8 week old Staffy. He is nipping a lot which doesn't really concern her as she knows that puppies nip anyway. What is worrying her is that when she tells him no (not to nip) he viciously barks at her as though he's going to attack her. He has a tendency to nip quite hard and has nipped her, her partner and both her kids. She's heard that these breeds of dogs tend to lock their jaws when they bite. Obviously because she has 2 kids she's concerned that her kids may be at risk. I just want to add that she has cared for this breed of dog before and is very well informed of their temperament, however she has never come across this kind of behaviour before. She'd appreciate serious and sensible answers only as she is seriously considering rehoming the dog.

I have a one year old dog who shares a yard with a couple other older dogs. He has been spotted on many occasions eating the other dogs' poop and I was just wondering why he does that. I've read a little about it from different sources and some people say it can be associated with potty-training but he is already trained. I've also noticed that he doesn't eat his food right away when I feed him, almost as if he waits until he's really hungry. Could this mean he may have a digestion problem or does he just like to eat poop? Any suggestions on how I can stop it?

With so many people raising kids that aren't angels even with the best intentions in raising them right, I wonder how many people do any better in raising a pit bull?

After fostering several puppies for a local rescue group, I have my first very shy girl. She is a 7 month old yellow lab. She is warming up nicely, but slowly. I just wonder if she will transfer her turst to another family easily or revert back to very shy. Anyone with experience out there?

My vet prescribed Digoxin for my 6 lb. chichuahua. I was told to get Lanoxin 50 mcg/ml and give him 6 drops a day--3 in the morning and 3 in the evening after meals. This seems excessive to me and he recently had some sort of spell/fit. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

He is 5 months old and he gets diarrea with dog food, he´s been wormed several times, but still any brand of dog food doesn´t seem to suit him, is it too bad to give him home made food (such as chicken and rice)? the vet says he'll get use to dog chow but it´s been 5 months... how long can it take him to get used to it? Also, he likes to hunt little animals and he eats them, once he ate a little bird and another time he ate an iguana!!! I worry that he might catch a desease. Is there a way to stop this?? thanks !!!
