My black and white border collie is named Shadow... like having shadows cast in black on her fur.

I have two black and white dogs. The boston terrier's named Daisy Mae and the other (mixed) is Tater. Nothing to do with their color but rather just picking the names that were right for them.

There is no "best name" for any dog irregardless of their color. I always tell people not to name their puppies for a few weeks when they take them home. You have to give them time to develope their personalities first, unless you are one of those people who have it set in their minds what the dog will be called even before you pick it out and take it home.

Is it like a border Collie? Name it Babe, after the movie. I named my dog Duke. Or name it after the Pirates of the Caribbean movie, Jack Sparrow, Will Turner, Elizabeth Swann. Or name it after a book you read. We named our cats Lil, Devin, Bree (Briana), Mikkel.

mine is named Carling. It has nothing to do with the black and white colouring - just like the name!

I would say choose a name that fits the dog personality, not based on the color.also less syllables are easier for a dog to respond to.
