i have a 1 year old lab,yellow female.she had her first heat about 3 months ago,now for the last few days she has started her period again..i thought seasons happened every 6 months with a dog? its not bright red blood,more of a browny blood.is this a possable normal season????




also she has been humping my teddys/quilt/pillows ect! (loads more than usuall) she always usually does this most of the time is this also normal ??

You should call the vet and ask, just to make sure about the blood and her heat cycle. Better to be safe than sorry, I say.

If you get her spayed you dont have to worry about her humping everything in sight. Its a really easy and safe precedure and you will have her home the next day.

My mom wanted to breed our lab but after one heat cycle all the blood and humping was driving her insane! lol so we wound up spaying her. Plus there are already so many unwanted dogs in shelters already, why add? you know.

I believe the "every six months" is a generalization, but not always the same for every dog. It's entirely possible this is another heat cycle. Are you planning to have her spayed? If so, this will stop heats and you can easily train out that other undesirable behavior.
