I have a pomenerian ( about 10 months old) and she's been losing a lot of hair ( not to to the point where she's bald or something) and i know it's normal for dogs but it's just a lot... i'm pretty sure it's not because of stress, so then why? and what can i do to stop this???

I recently adopted a German Shepherd from a family member. She has had excessive training and is incredibly obedient. Because this family member did not have the time a lot of her training was not kep up with and she did not go out to much other than car rides. In taking her out I have found her to be incredibly well-behaved but I am having one consistent problem. At the dog park she chases small dogs and other small animals (When there are no small animals around I have complete control over her) I am thinking she either has a high prey drive or this is a result of her herding instinct. Either way I am wondering if there is any effective way to remedy this because although she had never harmed another dog it scare me and other dog owners. We have a cockatoo at home and she sometimes approaches her however when we say "NO" she immediatly stops the behavior. Any ideas?

I think I know what breed I want but I don't want to get a breed that ends up being wrong. I'm up for suggestions if anyone has any. I have done some research but would like to know what a few other people think.

My dog is pretty quiet, rarely barks, just with dogs he wants to play with and the odd time waiting for his meal being prepared. Yet whenever I play harmonica in front of him or even if he hears one playing on the stereo or tv he goes a little nuts. I know you can make a dog howl if you sing in front of them, I'm assuming this is a similar scenario. Just looking for others' experience.

Our vet told us it was very common for blue dobies to have skin problems and that there was nothing we could do for her. I buy my shampoo at the vet and she eats well and takes vitamins from the vet also. She has a terrible odor and bathing barely helps plus the vet told me not to bath her too often but the smell is so bad if I don't. She is 10 yrs. old and has had this her entire adult life. She doesn't have much fur left and has alot of problems with tooth tartar. Her nails are very brittle. Does anyone have any ideas?

I will soon get my puppy and I want to teach him from the first day where it's acceptable for him to eliminate. I want him to be able to use the potty bell near the door if we are around so we know when take him outside, and to use the litter tray if we are not. I know how to do both separately, but how do I teach him to alternate BOTH without confusing him too much?

My friend just got a 4 pound puppy, and just the other day their neighbor's big dog charged their fence(no leash) and started chewing on their puppy. When they found the puppy she was lying on the front porch panting, she died later that day. I told my friend that she could sue her neighbors since the neighbors weren't watching their dog. Am I right? If I am then how can she make it happen?

My husband and I both work long hours and sometimes neither of us can get home in the middle of the day. We have two Rott mixes and we feel bad keeping them in their crates all day, but we aren't allowed to leave them out on our porch where there's nothing for them to chew, and if we leave them in the house we would have to replace all our furniture, the carpets, the cat...everything. We don't have a yard, so we take them to a ballpark near us to run as often as we can, but even that isn't enough sometimes. And don't suggest walks, because that won't do anything. They're both about a year old and have unlimited energy. We're crating them now cuz there's nothing else to do, but we don't like it. We love our dogs and won't consider getting rid of them, but we don't feel like this is good for them. Whenever I read about chewing the article always blames the owner for being gone too long and not leaving out enough toys, but we give them tons and can't help that we have to work. Any ideas?

If you ever bought a dog from Nexy Day Pets and alot of you said it was a pure puppymill and i would get unhealthy dogs. I read on more about the site and they said i get to keep the dog 5-10 days to give it a checkup and see if its healthy (while they hold the money) and if it is then they give the person the money and if its not they give me my money and I return the dog.

Thanks for the answers though.

I just brought my 2 dogs out for a walk - I know the neighbor on the right uses "Driveway Heat" (Little pellets to melt ice/snow) so I don't bring my dogs out that way because it burns their paws so bad that they limp (I asked him to use pet friendly Ice Melt and he called me a crazy bi*ch and walked back in his garage).

I go left now, but apparently, my other neighbor has also purchased the same kind of pellets! I'M TRAPPED!

Should I talk to my other neighbor about pet-friendly ice melt? (I'm almost afraid to after the run in with the other neighbor...) or bite the bullet and go get the boys some snow boots so we don't have to worry about it? (I'm really against "Dressing them up", but they do have snow-coats for when it's really foul out...).

I have a chihuahua puppy who is almost 3 months old. I have been reading about their ears because he only has one ear standing right now. I came across 2 articles that said that these people took their chihuahua puppies to the vet and they pulled the puppy's baby teeth that didnt fall out. Is that common in chihuahua's or any other dogs? If so, how will I know if he needs that done? He only has one ear standing, but I believe its still early for him and hes most definitely in the teething stage since he's not even 3 months yet.
