When I see a dog in a movie acting aggressive (growling, snout flaring, baring teeth, etc.), I always wonder if they had to do something to make him angry. Can animal trainers really make a dog act like that without upsetting the dog?

i have a 8 week old bug that i got at 6 weeks. he is actuallt 75% pug and 25% boston. Anyway, i wanted to no when i could take him on short walks. I live in albany and it is cold now, and he seems really cold when we are transporting him. It seems like he has a lot of energy and needs to release it, and our apt is fairly small. Any help would be great.

Next Day Pets? If so, did you get the pup? Did everything turn out good and how it was said in the description? Would you buy a puppy from it? Would it be alright if i bought a puppy from there?

No i am not a weirdo or anything, just I really enjoy having my dog around--I have a lab, well she spends some of her time with her dad(my boyfriend) and some time with me, but most the time with her dad, when I go over his house on the weekend I see her and sometimes take her to my house for a week or so. My boyfriend claims it's his dog, but she is totally a mommies girl, cuddles up to only me in the bed etc, well when i leave or take her back I feel like I really miss her, bad. just curious if anyone else ever feels like this. I love my dog, I spoil her rotten. She is just a great lab.

My Dobie pup has had some eye irritation of late. It has been diagnosed as entropian. Two vets have looked at her and suggested we consider having the condition rectified surgically when she is full grown as it may correct itself as she grows.
I have read quite a bit on the interenet regarding the condition but I would like some input from some dog owners...
a) does anyone have a dog with entropian?
b) did they outgrow it?
c) or did you have the surgery and how did it turn out?

I noticed that she's spotting, which is normal. She's my first female dog and I'd like to know what everybody else has done to keep the indoor, non crate trained, female not leaving a trail behind her.

my chihuahua is six years old. scab like skin forms over dry spots which collect the hair into clumps. these clumps then fall out when the skin is removed. although his hair falls out when his skin is peeled off it grows back. the dry spots can become raw. but there is no itching and scratching.

I plan on breeding my dog once before getting her spayed. I was wondering what age is best for the male to mate. The stud is very young now but showing interest when my dog visits. She isn't in heat yet but I am not sure if she should be around the stud during her next heat if he is too young (he is 6 months now).

How can I entertain my dogs during the long winter months? It's WAY too cold to take them out to play or for walks, it's -40 some days. And I don't have a huge house where they can run and romp. They do wrestle sometimes, but I think they need something more to do that I can do with them...Any suggestions?

We have a 12 year old border collie, with a large cancer tumor on her right side lower jaw area. Part of the tumor was taken out, but extracting the rest would've ment taking out portions of her jaw. The tumor is increasing in size causing her lip to sag and is also spreading down her neck. When she uses her jaw too much {barking, eating} the skin covering the tumor erupts a bit and it bleeds a little. The vet has put her on a series of pain meds and antibiotics. She is still an active and alert dog. She doesn't act like she is in any pain, she can still eat soft dog food.
My question is, When is the best time to put her to sleep? I don't want to wait till the cancer breaks her jaw, but I don't want her to suffer either. What is your opinion for this situation?

I can't find reference anywhere to what kind of degree he has or who granted it? If his degree is Ph.D. what is the field? I'm looking for some tangible "verification" of his credentials.

Most authors would state this sort of thing very clearly.

Im a new puppy owner and was wondering if anyone had any info. on this breed. Iv had her for a few days and was wondering if her weight was "healthy" at this stage? Also, in regards to growth -does anyone have any info. on how much I can expect her to come to weigh? And also, at what point should I expect her coat to begin to grow more dense? Please help.

We have one, we got him from a rescue home, so don't know his background. When we play ball in the park, he runs round in circles and crouches low with his head between his paws; just like he's herding sheep. We didn't teach him to do this, and I doubt whether he's ever actually been a farm dog. I notice other collies acting similarly. Does this mean this is now inherent behaviour ,and a 'nature' rather than 'nurture' characteristic?
