That is because that wormer is CRAP and POISION!!! You should have gotten a wormer from the VET not some grocery store!!! You may need to call poision control!!!!!!!

Read the ingredients on the package. I am sure you will find nothing anyone has EVER heard of!!!!! NEVER do that again!!!!!

here is what it is:

Arecoline Hydrobimide

I have been a vet tech for 17 yeas and NEVER heard of that. EVER. It is NOT a wormer used by vets!!! You may want to call the vet and see what you should do. There can be lasting effects that can continue to make the dogs ill. CALL A VET.

The ONLY safe OTC tapewormer is called TRADEWINDS. It is the same as the Droncit that vets use.

Dogs need to be on heartworm preventative every month for their lifetime. If you can't afford the pills then you probably can not afford to have this dog. A heartworm test is done in house and usually costs about $40. Heartworm medication depends on the weight of the animal and which preventative is chosen and costs vary - usually bought in a 6 or 12 month supply at a time. It is possible that she is infected already - in the beginning there are few and sometimes no signs. The on-line medication, to my knowledge, needs to have a vet authorization verifying a negative heartworm test so she needs to be tested first. Heartworms are transmitted by a mosquito bite. The larvae migrate to the heart and then start producing the baby heartworms. As they mature the worms actually clog the heart causing increasing symptoms and will eventually cause death. It is totally preventable as long as the medication is given every single month for life. Do the responsible thing and take to the vet and get her tested and on preventative. There is no shortcut on this.

This is an example of why I always say, to never give your dog a medicine unless the vet gave it to you. If the vet did not prescribe this medication, specifically for each dog, then either the dogs might be allergic to the medicine, or the wrong dose was given. If the vet did prescribe this medication, and they are reacting to it with these symptoms, then again, they may be having an allergic reaction to the medication. Both dog's, really need to be taken to the vet immediately, because if they have been overdosed or having a reaction, and it's not treated right away, you stand a big chance of, losing both of them. Please don't put it off, for the sake and welfare of these 2 dogs. I really hope they are both ok!

what people said about the otc wormers are true. So many pets have died from doing the same thing that you did. I know someone that used otc wormer for their saint bernard puppies and guess what? It killed the whole litter. They learned a valuable lesson that day.
You are probably wondering why it is sold if it kills your pets? It does not kill all pets but can very easily cause damage unseen to the human eye, later on in the near future. Liver damage is one.
Most of the otc medication for dogs is poison to them, but then again the dog food we feed our dogs has dangerous poison ingrediants in it also.
Make a trip to your vet and take the medication with you.

Take them IMMEDIATLY to the vet. This maybe a serious problem which may need a veterinary attention to resolve completely. If you go bring the medicine to show the vet so the vet can determine if they are allergic to it or something.

Take them to the vet right now ! You have to be careful when giving any medications to a puppy. Only your vet should do that. Do not self medicate a puppy....Good Luck

TANKE THEM TO A VET. If they're poisoned that's your only answer. Either way, seizures are not normal nor can they be ignored. If you want them healthy, take them to a 24 hour emergency hospital right away!

OTC dewormers should NEVER be used. They are ineffective and can be very dangerous to dogs as you have found out. Like OTC flea products they can cause neurological problems, seizures even death.

They reallt should be taken to a vet. I hope they don't have long term effects from this.

I hope others who read your post will learn something from it and stop using OTC dewormers & flea products!!

I think your best bet is to call a vet and ask their opinion, they will usually tell you what you can do.
