Shedding is a normal part of the hairs growth cycle. You can reduce the amount of hair shed by brushing at least once a week. This will save you from having to take the dog to the groomer for a hair cut.

Dogs shed, especially long haried ones. It is a fact of life. You can cut the amount of shedding down by brushing her well at least once a day.

As for shaving the dog, you will make it so she is prone to skin cancer, has no protection against the cold outside, etc. I suggest taking her to the groomers and asking for them to go over her with a shedding head on their razor. It will take out excessive hair without shaving them.

One does NOT shave a Border Collie! If you brush the dog nightly, and put some oil in his diet he will have a beautiful shiny coat in time, that hardly sheds at all.

You'll make it sick if you shave it. And this wll not solve the long term problem of needing regular care to be healthy.

Give her a bath about every 6 weeks with dog shampoo and brush her every other day and the shedding will be cut trumendously! You shouldn't shave dogs like that, they have the hair that they do for a reason. And panting is part of dogs staying cool and warm.

You DO NOT shave a border collie - ever. Get out the brush and brush this dog regularly!

Groom the dog regularly you can and forget shaving it.
Border Collies look stupid with their coat shaved. Be a better owner!

Is that your house? With all the other crap in it, what's a bit of dog hair?

Give the dog a mohawk or a flat-top. Either would be stunning. (Your dog is beautiful btw! Charming face and a lovely coat-too bad you have to shave it)

you need to consult your vet about cutting a long haired dog's hair.
breeds have a certain amount of hair for a reason. border collie's should be able to live in any environment w/out getting hot.
side note....if you are saying she gets hot b/c she is panting....they do that.
make sure she has lots of water.

brush your dog each day, it will decrease the amount of shedding.

if your mom is 100% against dog hair, take it to a groomer.they will know what to do, and will (probably) cut the hair better than you would.

its not because its is too hairy and start to loose hair. Groom her everyday. go to walmart and buy a comb for dogs. Its not nessesary to shave all the hair off. The dog just need to be groom. trust me. there WILL be hair coming off when you groom her.
