I know a lady who does therapy work with her papillon and another who does therapy work with her large mixed breed. Also there was a story on Animal Planet before where a llama named Charlie did therapy work. Any dog that is extremely gentle and loves people could be a good therapy dog.

All i am going to say is the huge difference in those human beings is fantastic it brings out an aspect which some households did not no existed, Violent children/adults develop into loving and being concerned and that i have had many shoppers who will in user-friendly words communicate at the same time as driving about their horse otherwise they spend all day silent. My shoppers variety from 18mths with numerous sclerosis to seventy 8 years previous with coronary heart issues and autism and their isn't any down area. Is is demanding for some before each and every thing to attain have self belief of via the undeniable fact that is bodily annoying yet each and every man or woman has stronger a lot. we start up doing classes for 20Min's and do each and every thing from hacking to gymkhanas and my shoppers like it. in reality they even savour mucking out. This pastime makes human beings so chuffed as long as precautions are taken like secure horses and knowledgeable instructors, yet human beings even ought to that's mandatory to inspire those human beings to do each and every thing they could because given the prospect those adult males will marvel you, they continuously marvel their acquaintances and households! i might want to continuously recommend this climate human beings have a incapacity or no longer as you may continuously groom if driving isn't for you that is likewise very person-friendly and facilitates human beings a lot. finally different animals artwork merely as well as long as you've practise time and persistence. wish thids facilitates fell free to ask some thing else you want.

smaller dogs can have a serious injury when a kid if ruff with it! that might be something to look at too! there backs can brake and so on.... but i think the best dog to get for kids is a rottweiler or a retriever. there bigger and very smart! they love kids and other animals too! if there are kids involved!
i also wanna add that for a med. size dog that Australian Shepperd's are very loyal and smart! but they do need to run allot! some people call the cattle dogs. as long as u can leave that kind of dog out in the yard to play. then you'll have no problems!

For adults, depending on their age depends on what type of dog. If you're going to get a large breed dog I suggest retriever, greyhound, shepard or even great dane. Something they don't have to reach real far to pet. As for small dogs, something that doesn't startle easily and one that won't get right up in their faces. I had a greyhound and beagle as therapy dogs and they had no problem

I would go with a Lab. Start by getting a puppy. This is important because they have a short time frame to train them the way you need them trained. They will understand there is a "working" atmosphere and a "playing" atmosphere. Once trained (or not), they are the most loving and obedient dogs in the world.

i bought our first mastiff 12months ago,i also have had other large dogs, but whatever dog you decide on,socialise him as young and as much as possible,i dont think id go back to a different breed, mastiffs,in the right hands are amazing, all the kids at my kids school love him to bits, even though he is about three times their weight, they are so loving and loyal,i know that my kids are safe when they out with him hes very gentle..BUT ALSO VERY PROTECTIVE,if any one was to raise their hand to my kids,he would gladly stop them by removing it..we cant play fight with the kids with him in the house,he doesnt know the difference..truely loving loyal ,and protective, yet any one can approach him when out or even in our home,if i decide not to let somone in,he backs me up,if i welcome someone into our home, youd think he had always known you,but please read up on any breed you decide to have, the only thing i would change is the drool, but apart from that mastiffs make perfect pets...
