hi, i have a question. my granma has a yorkie named kaiser bill and earlier today a handy man was working on her septic system and she forgot to tie him up (kaiser bill, i mean) and he fell down a sewage pipe. don't worry, theres nothing nasty down there right now, but kaiser bill is barking and barkin and we don't know how to get him out. i seen a thing on ducks down a gutter once and to get them out they put a garden hose in there and floated them up. we were thinking to try that with kaiser bill?

Our German Sheperd just had puppies yesterday. Is it normal for her to not want to go outside? She hasn't ate or drank anything, or used the bathroom. We aren't even able to clean up the whelping area, as of yet. I don't want to force her if at all possible, but I know she needs a break.

it seems to bark a lot whenever someone appears. and yet it might be fun to play with, or at least pet, but it runs when you get near.

He only does this when he is in a twilight sleep and plays hard with other dogs. He is extremely wonderful otherwise. I have watched the dog whisperer, tried every technique, no luck. I WILL NOT hit him. Nothing seems to work. Ouch!!! Will he outgrow this?

I spanked him because he peed, I know he didn't mean to I was supposed to take him out but I fell asleep. But he didn't even try to wake me up, he is 5 months old and is about 4 lbs. So when I saw the pee, I rubbed his nose in it and spanked him. When I spanked him he moved and I spanked his head, he started to do this weird stiff thing and his eyes rolled back. I kinda got scared but by the time I got him in his carrier to take him to the vet he snapped out of it. Now when I get close to him he pees himself, which then makes me mad and I want to spank him again. My sister doesn't kow why he is acting funny now. This dog is her EVERYTHING. What can I do to reverse the dammage I've caused. I was taught to spank the dogs to potty train them. Now I've done research and I know its better not to spank. Any suggestions?

Now I know what a troll is and I think I understand what a Moron League member is. But, who are the "Real Dog People"? I have some serious questions and want to know who would you trust?

Hi,
I posted a question a while back and decided- yes, i would make a good shih tzu owneer. so, adopting a 19 month old from a reputable breeder- has been in shows ( he doesn't have the best markings but won one ukc) so well trained, microchipped and getting neutered this week. we met him and he was amazing- sweet lovable, friendly, answered to name- great on leash, followed commands-sit, etc...
anyway, we are getting him in a couple of weeks and i'm curious about how to handle the first day home. though he is house trained, it is a new house and routine. crate training stuff on line all talks about getting him used to the crate by coaxing him with treats, etc.. well, how would that get him used to it in one day... should he sleep in the crate- do we need to crate train him. also, all sites say to keep crate in room where we hang out. we have a split level and its mixed b/w dining room up and family room down - do we move crate, do we then move it to our room where he will sleep. we do have a 2 room area downstairs- linolium where he can hang while we are at work and school but we don't hang there much as a family and sites all say to start dog off in area of house where he will spend day-
please help to clarify all this for me.-
thanks,
ira

and if i mate them only one time during the heat cycle will that be a smaller litter (4-5) ? or there just no telling ? i mated a dog couple years ago and she had 12 pups . and the dog we have now came from a litter of 13 pups, which is just hectic and would like to breed my dog only if it could be known to have a small healthy litter

I am currently feeding my 14 week old puppy Royal Canin Large Breed puppy food. I did a little research, it seemed like a great food and many people were very happy with it. My dog likes it and is doing very well, but I heard Canidae and Innova are better foods. After checking them out, I agree. Would Canidae be ok for a shepherd since it doesn't have a breed specific food? I noticed it doesn't have a few ingredients that large breed foods claim promote healthier joints and cartilage. Anyone with a large dog have experience with these foods?

She's got the sweetest temperament, but does snap at dogs who are excited and bouncy. She never actually bites, but does bark and bare her teeth. She was attacked as a pup and I think it all stems from this.
