It's hard to watch your dog suffer, but if euthanasia is not as painless as you think, it makes that decision more difficult. Is there any evidence, one way or another? What drugs are used?

I'm getting a yellow lab puppy and I was wondering what a good name for her would be. I really like unique names that nobody else names their pets... so yeah just wondering if you have any ideas...
Thanks!

I have a 3 mos old puppy have trained to sit, stay, come, go to kennel etc, but do you have any ideas on how to train him not to jump up on people besides telling me to buy a dog training book?
I am looking for specific ideas that worked for you.

I'm thinking about enrolling my puppy some training classes.
what are the good places I can go to get my puppy trained? (I know petsmart...what are other options?)
Also how much does the basic training cost? How much would you willing to pay for a class?

My puppy used to be very calm and liked to cuddle. But now he is out of control. He can be sleeping on my lap one minute then running around the house as if he is being chased by an invisuable things the next minute. He doesn't respond to my callings anymore and if i try to hold him he runs the other way. That makes me so sad. I tried to train him myself but I don't have much time nor energy. He socializes daily and goes out to a walk 2-3 times a day. He is 3 months old shih tzu and he's getting neutered in 2-3 months.

She's 9weeks old and I don't really know how to train a dog. She's starting to catch on to the potty training thing, but will still find a place on the carpet . She hates the leash and won't come when called unless she wants to. I'd appreciate any help. Thanks

I'm in Canada, and have been reading AKC news and noticed there is a spay/neuter law in somes of the States. Does this mean one cannot own an "intact" dog or cat? What States if any have that law?

My boxer/coonhound mix, Sasha, is usually pretty laid-back, except when guests show up. However, after most of my guests have been in the house for a few minutes, Sasha calms down and acts normally. This is NOT the case when my mother comes over! Sasha barks and growls at my mom as though she's ready to bite her head off any minute, no matter how long my mom stays. My mom--who, granted, is not a "dog person"--tries her best to speak nicely and be friendly to Sasha and let the dog sniff her, but the barking never stops. The other day, my mom went on a walk around the block with us, and Sasha chose to bark at Mom the whole time, while staying silent around strangers on the street. Arggh!! What is up with my dog? How do I stop this behavior?

My pomeranian, who I've had for 15 years is sadly going to be put to sleep tomorrow. Her health has gone downhill so much lately that she can't do anything on her own... This dog is like a child to me, I've had her since I was 5 years old. Does anyone know of a company or a website that makes caskets for your pets? I am having a hard time finding them. I can't stand the thought of burying her in the ground without a casket. And no smart answers about putting her in a box, please.

Ok, so I am getting to the point where I might have to give my puppy to my parents and I really don't want to. She is a miniuture poodle about 3.5 lbs and about 4 months old. She is so hyper. I can't even hold her she just wiggles around. The groomer said the same thing. I take her out about 20-30 mins at a time and she doesn't go outside, she comes in the house and goes. I yell at her, trying to do my best. She always bites me and is a ankle biter. Last night I got three hours of sleep because all she did was cry in her crate which she has never done before. It seems like it is getting worse and worse. I love her to death but I can't handle this anymore. I try to be strern with her but it doesn't work she just looks at me. She pees and poops all in my house. I am running out of ideas. All I want is a puppy that I can play with and pet and is noce. I think she hates be. Any help will be nice

My local mailman is a real jerk. He maced my dog through a screen door. Like my dog could have really bit him through a door. So to get revenge on this gutless/ coward mailman, I went to the public mailbox (the standard blue ones) he picks up at and scooped 1/2 gallon of chocolate fudge ice cream in it. I then waited from afar to see the look of disgust on his face as he tried to make sense of the ruined ice cream soaked mail. Now hopefully when he brings this back to the post office he will be fired for getting his ice cream on the mail. Don't you agree this is great karma for an animal abuser?

I have a 7 month old basset hound puppy, and I also have an older 5 year old dog. Both are neutered, and are relatively laid back. The 5 year old is very laid back, and also very submissive - he won't ever put the puppy in his place. The puppy however, is the more dominant of the two and he's just getting out of control. He is obsessive compulsive with the dog toys and won't let the older dog even look at them. This behavior is really getting on my nerves, and I'm tired of the puppy taking everything from the older dog. We have even bought two of everything to give to each dog, but the puppy takes complete control over everything. What should we do to control this unwanted behavior? How do we make the puppy stop being so... bad?

I am babysitting my friends new puppy. She had mentioned that she has given it like four baths since she got it because it smells terrible. I smelled its fur and it smells good, but I notice an odor in the ears. Like a really yucky sour smell. They were REALLY dirty, I think it was ear mites, so i gave it ear mite treatment, and its been a couple days and they are WAY better but they still have a smell. Any suggestions, she had just been to the vet and the vet didn't say anything.

She has biten probably 5 people. This happens when she is sleeping and people try to pet her, or if people are too excited when she is not. she is also extremely territorial when it comes to other dogs in her space. What should be done? We have even though about putting her down but it would be so hard to do. HELP?!?
