I recently purchased a solid blue pit but I'm still not sure what to name him. I want a strong name but nothing that implies he is mean, a killer, a fighter...or anything else that pit's are associated with.

First of all, i've had a look at the answers of some of the other similar questions about dogs chasing their tails, but none of them helped, people just said, "Aww, it's cute, just leave it!" But seriously, my 9 month old Staffordshire cross kelpie just will not stop chasing his tail. At first, we thought it was pretty cute, but after a while, he began to actually catch his tail, and wouldn't let go of it, causing himself much pain. He wails and wails until we get him to stop! We figured out he does it when he gets excited, and we've tried to distract him with toys and such when he does it, but nothing seems to work. We've tried everything to get him to stop, from Spraying water on his tail, to putting terrible tasting things like Antiseptic lotion or Lemon Juice on his tail, but he just won't cease to chase and catch it! Please help, What can I do to stop him from chasing his tail?

My dog died recently (a boxer, we had her for 13 years!). I really want my next dog to be a boston terrier. I love their friendly personalities, and I think I'm ready for a smaller dog after having a big one for so long. However, I don't want to spend a huge fortune (I'd be willing to go up to 400), and I'm afraid of getting an unhealthy puppy. Any advice?

My black lab bordier collie mix often has intestinal problems, she's one of those dogs that will eat anything she finds outside and gets various fruits and vegies and sometimes ice cream from us once every few days along with her food. She's well exercised so the food isn't making her overweight. Are there any natural remedies we could give her, she gets diahrea once every few months instead of taking her to the vet each time? We adopted her when she was 6 weeks and she arrived with all sorts of intestinal problems then.

I have a neighbor with a small terrior (bichon frise I think) and during the day when they leave they leave the little dog outside... it barks all day long and cries... I live in Mississippi but right now it is very cold... the highs are in the low 40's and the lows are in the twenties.

I work third shift, and would like to know if working the night shift would be hard for a puppy? I'm home all day. I plan on letting a puppy out just before work at around ten thirty and don't live far from work. So I should get there ten minutes after seven. My breaks are at one, three and five in the morning but I'm only allowed two ten and fifteen minute breaks and can't leave work. I do plan on taking at least a week of half nights just to go home. Would this be long enough? Any advice would be helpful.

There are many people who view when puppies can leave their mother. I have seen eight weeks, 7 weeks, I have heard "as soon as they can eat solid food.

I am not trying to be a breeder, and my pups are already grown...but I was just curious was some breeders think?

I just brought home a new 7 year old lab mix male (90lbs). My home already has an IG (20lbs). With his food and treats and toys he is very gentle with myself and my 3 year old son. Without toys his plays well with my IG (that is used to being around only big dogs.) But when he has a toy he snarles and growls at my IG. Not at my son or at me, just at my IG. I get that he is trying to establish his dominance in his new home, but is there a way to keep from doing that. If he ever did go after him it could be fatal? (90 lbs against 20!) When I leave I am kenneling him until I can trust him but can I do when I am home? Any suggestions are welcome! Just as a side note, he is terrified of my two cats, any suggestions there would be nice too!

I have a 2 year old wired hair fox terrier. However she will not stop licking her paws to the point her fur is getting shorter and shorter or coming off her foot. I have not changed her diet at all. I brush her often and have not seen anything in the yard or the house that is new to her. Do you know whats causing this? She does get dry skin however I have a certin shampoo for that and isnt in need of a bath and it also has not caused any problems for her in any way. Whats goin on and what can I do, its getting pretty bad and she will do it for long periods of time if I dont catch her...
