I posted yesterday about a chihuahua I found half frozen in my yard and I brought him in to warm him up, feed him, and look for an owner. Well the owner showed up today with papers to prove ownership and I thought nothing of it. But when I had called animal control yesterday about picking him up if no one showed up, they told me that my dogs would need tested for parvo in 7-10 days just in case. I looked up symptoms of parvo and vomiting is one of them. Lo and behold, this morning before the owner came, the dog was vomiting all over my house! It never did have a bowel movement the entire time it was here so I can't tell you about stools. Should I be worried? I'm scared I unknowingly exposed my dogs to a deadly disease just trying to help another animal. My dogs are current on all vaccines but I have 2 Lab puppies that are 19 weeks old and a 4 year old mix breed. (golden & bernard) I will have them both tested but could anyone tell me what the chances are that the vomiting was a fluke?

I was just curious, because I recently found out that when you leave the dog with the vet to "take care of the body," it ends up in the dump. I don't like the thought of my dog ending up there.

my 3 month old puppy literally eat anything and everything it finds on the ground. Everytime I take him outside to go potty he just sits there and find things to eat. So far he has eaten, small rocks, tree leaves and branches, cottton balls, paper, his own poop, my roommate's dog's poop...etc. I try to keep our carpet clean by picking up things through out the day but my roommate's puppy makes a big mess all the time (she is teething and not potty trained at all!) It's not like I don't feed him. I always leave enough food and water at all time. I'm really worried to let him out of of his crate when I'm not here. My roommate's puppy is not vaccinated, not clean, not potty trained, has fleas and ticks. On the other hand my puppy is vaccinated and is getting his regular check up tomorrow. I don't want my puppy to eat my roomate's puppy's poop cause it probably has worms and other bad things.

So I got my puppy a week ago. He's not only hyper, but he is chewing everything in the house, as well as our feet and hands. I cannot get him to stop and feel frustrated although I want to be patient. Does anyone have any good advice to make him stop...at least with our hands and feet? I've moved objects, but he's still going for the furniture. Love him to death, but I can't stand unruly "kids"...lol!

Is there a specific cause?
She is a sheperd sheltie mix and eats IAMS lamb flavor weight control. She has eaten this since she was a puppy. She gets occasional Milk Bones.

I have read other postings that suggest the dogparent use a clicker or treat as positive reinforcement. One thing I haven't seen is how do you get your puppy to stay on one side of you i.e. I'm right handed so I guess I should use my left hand to hold the leash (to keep my right hand free if anything comes up). So how do I keep my puppy from zig zagging? Also, when we're indoors, he follows me and sometimes runs by my feet --too close for comfort because I am afraid I (or my bf) will step on him by accident. I already bought some bells for his collar but is there a way to show my dog not to run into my feet (esp. where I am about to set foot)?

Well Im not ok will aborting her pups. Im more then willing to take my time and find good homes maybe a contract that will allow me to know if they can no longer care for them I get the chance to take the pups back. I did want to breed he once with my male but I was lead to believe she would not be having a heat untill mid to the end of this year. Im a little worried her age 7 months might affect how she cares for the pups. She is a very loveing and active pup, but will she be able to do the mothering they will need?

Have a Lab puppy and would like to know the best food to buy. Maybe there are some lab techs or vets that have good information.

Thanks

I am fostering a dog who has been an absolute joy to be around. Very well behaved and mellow. Seems to just want love. I posted an ad to try and get him adopted and he has growled and almost snapped at a couple people that have met him. I can't keep him because I already have 2 dogs. Any tips on positive introductions or de-attachment would be greatly appreciated.

My labrador retriever, Sassy, just recently had her 1st litter of puppies. They are 9 weeks old. I just put her back outside with out male, Sammy, and he's following her around just like he was before the whole process started. Is she in heat again? And if so, can she get pregnant? Serious answers appreciated. Thanks.

My Black Lab is still in her puppy stage--even though she's already about 17 months old. I need to find a way for her to stop wanting to go in and out constantly. You see, we have this bell near the door, so if she ever wants to go out, she just rings it with her nose. It works...too well. How do we get her to stop?

My dog has had reoccuring bacterial bladder infection after several treatments with antibiotics. Today she had an accident inside, and I found a transparent/white little pieze which looked like a rice grain. Could this be a crystal? Or are crystals in urine to small to see? It could be just something else that was lying on the floor from before...
