Of the ones you listed...
Lab
Rott
Boxer

The only thing is, you described an Irish Terrier perfectly.

The breed you select will also determine where you live.
Both Labs and Weimers like to run.
Rotts and Pitts are both know biters of family members (I have owned both breeds and still have 1 Rott).
Dobes are great family pets but need training.
Boxers drool.

Now you will also need to know if your parents insurance company will cover bites from the Rott or Pitt as your home owners can drop the policy if these dogs are on the premise.. depending on your state.

Top would be Lab, Boxer then Dob. I could suggest a standard poodle, they are protective, good sized and make excellent family dogs.

Good luck.

All those dogs are pretty powerful animals! If I were you, I'd think very carefully as to whether I could commit to the extensive exercise and training requirements that these dogs will need to be happy.

I'd stay away from pit bulls. Most of them are very nice dogs, but the majority of people view them as dangerous animals, and that's not the kind of image you want. You also have to be careful when you have a pit around other dogs, because many turn out to be dog aggressive, and that's quite a legal liability.

I'd say my first pick would be a lab. They are friendly, energetic, a good size, and any dog will be protective if raised to love it's family. With a lab, you don't have to worry about scaring your neighbors, but bad guys will still stay away from your house.

Second choice would be a rott. Most rotts I've met are wonderful dogs. If purchased from a good breeder and socialized extensively, they are also safe around strangers, yet still protective.

My third choice would be a boxer. They don't have the negative image that pitts have, but they share many of their good traits. They are also a good size to have around the house.

I personally wouldn't get a wiem, because from my experiences, they need far more than the average pet home can give them. To keep this dog happy, you have to exercise them far more than the average person would like.

Hope this helps...

Well I am a big doberman fan (but only black and tan) so that would be my top choice. I had three growing up and the only one I had any problems with was my red male but the black/tan ones were great. Labs are very playful and energetic so that would be my second choice followed by the fullblooded Rott from a good family blood line without history of aggression. Another good breed is the German Shephard. So smart, my dad had one that the parents came from Germany and he was so wonderful.

It's not on your list but a very good guard dog is a German Shepherd. Rotts are good too. Labs are wonderful dogs but not so much of a guard dog since they are such loving people dogs. Dobermans can be protective too.

Loyalty: Get a pitt bull, doberman, or lab. Labs need a lot of exercise. Weimariners can be tough to deal with.

Do research on what breed you want as well.

Please try to get one from a rescue organization or an animal shelter. Check search engines for the breed you want and type in ______ rescue groups in (the state you live in).

MY TOP THREE LIST IS......1.PITT BECAUSE,IT IS A GREAT DOG AND WATCH DOG BUT, IT HAS A GREATER CHANCE OF ATTACKING YOU.(SO BE CAREFUL!!) 2.ROTT BECAUSE, IT'S ALSO A GREAT GUARD DOG,IT HAS A GREAT PERSONALITY AND THE LAST ONE IS THE BOXER BUT IS BEST IF YOU TAKE YOUR TIME AND GO THE LIBRARY TO READ BOOKS ABOUT DOGS.THERE IS A BOOK CALLED ""THE RIGHT DOG FOR YOU"" MAYBE IF YOU READ THE BOOK IT WILL BE A LOT EASIER TO CHOSE THE ONE FOR YOU.

you should concider an american bulldog. when raised in the home they are Very protective. they are loving dogs and like nothing better than making their owner happy. the drawback is that they are expensive. they are also rare. the good side is that they are usually freindly with other dogs. they are very smart and are a good alternative to the others. my second choice would be a boxer. they share lineage with the american bulldog and share many of their qualities. i have owned both, and they make excellent companions
