So I got my puppy a week ago. He's not only hyper, but he is chewing everything in the house, as well as our feet and hands. I cannot get him to stop and feel frustrated although I want to be patient. Does anyone have any good advice to make him stop...at least with our hands and feet? I've moved objects, but he's still going for the furniture. Love him to death, but I can't stand unruly "kids"...lol!

He's just a baby. All puppies chew, that's just what they do. I am guessing this is your first puppy. It will get better, but it's going to take awhile. When he chews on your hands and feet, grab his snout gently and tell him "no" and then hand him one of his toys to play with. To protect furniture and anything else you don't want destroyed, try Bitter Apple. It comes in a spray or a cream and is safe for most surfaces and safe for puppies. It has a terrible taste and the puppy will not want to chew anything that this has been sprayed on. I have never done this, but I guess you could spray it on your hands and feet too. You do need to discipline him, but this might help you along. Just remember patience and consistency.

I am not going to lie to you, you are going to be frustrated for awhile. Puppies are very rambunctious and don't want to listen. If you can get through this stage, it only gets better. Ask your vet if they have a list of obedience trainers. Alot of them have puppy classes. This is not a quick fix, but the trainer can give you advice on how to handle your little one. Good luck and don't give up. No matter how frustrated you get, don't take him to a shelter. There are so many dogs that are taken there just because the owners don't know how to deal with puppy behavior. You can do this!!!!!

Bare with him...he's a puppy and well...that's what they do like it or not. But there are solutions, try buying puppy kong and put pieces of cheese or peanut butter inside of it, which helps not only teething, but keeps them occupied for a while. Also, when he goes after your feet and hands...pick him up and tell him no, and then put him in his crate if you have one for him, and then leave him there for about 5-10 minutes, kinda like a time out. Eventually he'll catch on if you do that every single time he goes after you.
