She is a sheperd sheltie mix and eats IAMS lamb flavor weight control. She has eaten this since she was a puppy. She gets occasional Milk Bones.

Have you checked the ingredients of the food? Some dog foods add salmon oil which causes a nasty fish breath. If it's something new, I'd ask the vet. It could be a sign of something more.

Uhh it might have nothing to do with the food
She could have a problem with its gums like gum disease which if it goes undiagnosed the infected gums can poison and kill the animal. Take it to the vet and get everything checked out.

Plus your suppose to brush your dos teethe at least 1 to 2 times a week. That could help. durr, what do you do when your breath smells like fish...??hmm?? =]]

It's the dog food. My dogs have eaten IAM's too & their breath smelled the same way.
It's harmless.
You can either:
A) Stop smelling her breath
Or
B) Brush her teeth - my dogs actually LOVE it!

To fix that you can give her these breath mints for dogs, which you can get at Target.Or you can ocassionally brush your her teeth. (at least twice a week)My dog loves it when I brush his teeth cuz his toothpaste is beef flavored :-)
Hope it works out!

She probably has a dental problem and needs to see a vet about it.

You might need to brush her teeth, or take her to the vet..she could have a rotten tooth.
