She's 9weeks old and I don't really know how to train a dog. She's starting to catch on to the potty training thing, but will still find a place on the carpet . She hates the leash and won't come when called unless she wants to. I'd appreciate any help. Thanks

She's only 9 weeks. You've got many months of patient training time ahead of you. Enroll in obedience training once your pup has had all its shots. The class will teach both you and the pup how to work together. At least buy a book on basic training.Good luck

First you have to get the smell out of the carpet. If it's pee this is what I do. Put a dry cloth over the spot and grind it with your heel to blot it all up. Have a dish deterget bottle with plain vinegar it it with you because once you blot the pee up you won't be able to see the spot. Saturate the spot with the vinegar and let it dry naturally. If it's already dried you'll need to steam clean the carpet and use the stuff for pet odors in the cleaner or you might try using a gallon of vinegar mixed with the water when rinsing. It not only gets in the carpet, it also gets in the padding underneath and as long as she can smell it she'll keep going back. Go to this site and go down to Crate Training and "Potty" Training" . It's full of info. Good luck with your puppy.

listen closly... i'm a dog expert and know almost everything about them. what you do is as soon as she wakes up, take her outside. dogs always have to go potty when they wake up, and after a meal or play. when she does go outside and pees/ poops, give lots of loving praise. "Oh, WHAT a good job you did!!" will do the trick... the word 'what' has an awesome effect on dogs, so emphasize it.
When using the leash, be the leader of her and do not let her get away until the leash is on. if she tries to bite or snap, give a firm and low "NO." and a small spank on the rump. also, don't let her walk ahead of you, b/c she'll think she's the leader. that's why teaching her heel with praise and encouragement is important.
with the come issue, all you have to do is put her on the leash and walk all the way to the end of it. don't let her walk with you. call her, and if she doesn't come to you, give a quick jerk and repeat. then pull her toward you, and follow with a treat.

Hi, I understand that you are looking for some advice or resources to help fully train your dog or fix behavior problems. If a professional dog trainer is not an option at this time, or if you want to trt training your dog on your own (a great way to bond), I'd suggest you https://bitly.im/aMRUf

A friend recommened it to me a few years ago, and I was amazed how quickly it worked, which is why I recommend it to others. The dog training academy also has as an excellent home training course.

Terriers have the mind of their own. I had one for seventeen years and tried to train to come when called. Notice I said tried to train...They have what I call a defiant look that is comical..but not for you. Keep trying. Remember it is a mixed breed and not pure terrier. Enjoy
Yes, my current dog has "some" terrier and at three years is giving me the same look lol I reenforce the come when called routine and let her know when I say come I mean come!

She's young, can you crate her?The leash is the best and safest, but the crate will get her to wait. They have to be taken often when they are young and soon they catch on.Have a great time with her......
