It is not called a period it is estrus or heat.
Those diapers do not really work because a lot of dogs will not leave them on. You should spay your dog and then no messy heat to deal with.

Hi most dogs come into season at 6-9 months of age depends on what breed,6 months is the the most common age. she will then have 2 seasons a year that will last about 3 weeks there will be a bloody discharge for a week but the dog will remain fertile for a further 2 weeks.well the diaper method does to stop her spotting on your carpet. but a dog will do any thing to get to a dog in season and he would easily be able to rip the diaper off.Having her neutered will be a lot better and easier its a know fact that she neutered dogs lives longer and remain healthier.Spaying a her will help prevent uterine infections and mammary cancer and will stop phantom pregnancy and unwanted puppies.

it depends on the dog just like it depends on the girl for humans. usually, dogs start heat at around 6 months, so you kind of still have a couple months. the diaper method does work, but it would be embarrassing for your dog. besides, they don't bleed all that much anyways. if you're not planning to give her puppies, get her spayed... she'll be calmer and much more mature.

yes the diaper method does work, but I would recommend having her fixed. (less mess), unless of course you want to breed her. In that case start looking for it at about 5 months. Six months is a good rule, but then you might not be prepared when it happenes at five months.

Near six months of age she will begin. If you aren't going to breed her, I think you should have her spayed before it's too late and you have an unwanted litter of pups. The diaper method does work pretty well.

Femalles can go into season anywhere from 5 months old and up. It's best to get her spayed around 5 or 6 months of age.

ok, canines don't have classes. while pass into warmth, some do commence bleeding, others in basic terms spot. some you are able to purely tell by way of the actuality their privates are swollen. Their warmth lasts for some million month. in this time they must be saved from male canines. a woman dogs might desire to pass into warmth as early as 6 months (approximately 10 in human years), in spite of the undeniable fact that they would not have puppies until eventually they seem to be a minimum of 18 months previous. (approximately sixteen in human years) in spite of the undeniable fact that they pass into warmth approximately each 6 months. At 6 months they are too youthful and not completely stepped forward. maximum canines are no longer even completely matured until eventually 2 years previous. (18 or 21) And whilst some human beings say a dogs matures 7 years for each 300 and sixty 5 days, it is not particularly staggering. For one component, the 1st 2 years of a dogs are literally extra like 21 years. And whilst my English Cocker spaniel might desire to truly stay to be 15, yet another breed will purely stay to be approximately 8. and because I artwork at a shield and notice many animals who do no longer locate residences, please evaluate spaying. A dogs may be 6 months previous while they get mounted. And if your dogs is going into warmth and he or she is messy, get her doggie diapers obtainable at PetSmart and PetCo. (and he or she will have the skill to in all danger hate it, yet a minimum of she will have the skill to no longer be leaving marks everywhere.)

My vet laughed at me when I asked this. She said only human females get periods. Female animals go in to estrus. She said its very different and happens every six months and it would be better to get her fixed for a longer life. So I did.
