Yes all dogs can have them but most breeders have them removed between 3-5 days old so most people dont see them with dewclaws. So your dog could be full blood and the breeder just didnt have them removed. hope this helps.

Having dew claws removed is a breeder option. Not all breeders do it. Had nothing to do with the dog being a purebred, or a sign that he is or isn't.
ALSO, if the dog has not had them removed as a pup (prior to 7 days) you do not remove them. It's a serious operation for adult dogs, it's like YOU getting your thumb taken off for cosmetic reasons. Don't do it. It can be done in puppies because developmentally, their pain receptors have not formed and it's the only time it can be done pain free.

Yes - both of my border collies are purebreed - one has dew claws and one doesn't. This is due to the breeder having them removed when my little girl BC was a puppy

Yes. Pure bred border collies have dew claws. Sometimes the breeder will have them removed before they sell the puppies, sometimes not. You will have to take the dog to the vet and have tehm removed if you don't want them. Otherwise, make sure you clip that nail when you clip the dogs other nails or it will grow too long and irritate the dog.

Ummm, ALL dogs are born with dew claws. Breeders usually have them removed when they are about 3 days old.

All dogs can have them, but not all dogs do. And some dogs should keep them per breed standards. Most breeders have them removed prior to sale so many folks never see them. My dog got one dew claw on her hind leg that didn't emerge until she was 2 months old-that is not typical but it can happen.
