Some chocolate labs don't!!!! I work in a kennel and we dread one coming to us as he bounces like tigger out of Winnie the pooh!!! Hes about five years now. Some vets say its because of the small gene pool for the breed.

I have a chocolate lab who is 8 months old. He has only ever barked about 3 times in his life, never cries about anything and was a joy to train. I have been told that there is no difference between colours, its only the same as people having different coloured hair. Dogs reach full maturity at about two years old, so i expect yours will calm down about then. Also try not to react too much to stuff yourself and ask the dog to do things in a quiet voice, they definitely pick up on peoples personalities. I have a friend who is quite highly strung and she has a black lab who is too, not saying you are!!?? Also i have heard ignoring hyperness is the best way to stop it. if your dog jumps up at you - turn away, barks - ignore it?? might be worth a try.
Good luck and enjoy her, when she's a boring old lady you'll miss the puppy days

Lol...good luck. Most dogs don't "calm" down until about the age of 2( maybe 3). I personally believe the person that came up w/ this age should be beaten. My dog is 3 going on 4 and she's still crazy
