He's a Boston Terrier, 8 years old. We just adopted him this past summer.

I have taken him on long, 2 mile, walks when there was snow on the ground because his old owner said he loved the snow. He seemed fine then. But just taking him out for potty breaks now, almost every time now he ends up hoping on 3 paws and keeps trading off between lifting up one of his two back legs.

I tried boots before the snow even came...they were adorable but he wouldn't even walk! He stood in the same spot in the house for like 20 minutes before I gave up. We did get him to walk a couple steps and he did this crazy funny thing where he lifted his feet real high in the air and then spread his legs out far. He did NOT like the boots.

I am thinking of trying different boots though, since now there is snow and maybe if he has to go potty bad enough he won't mind wearing the new footware?

Any ideas? I looked and between his toes looks fine! I rinse them after walks in case salt gets in.

My whippet was attcked by a dog that got loose in the park yesterday. She has stiches across her neck and is not supposed to wear a collar until she is healed. Would something like a harness work for a sighthound? Or is there something else we could get?

MY DOGS LEFT PAW IS A LITTLE BIT SMALLER THEN THE RIGHT PAW. IN THE GRASS MY DOG SHOWS NO DISCOMFORT. HE RUNS, JUMPS AND PLAYS WITH THE OTHER 2 DOGS WITH NO PROBLEMS. BUT ONCE HE STARTS WALKING ON HARD GROUND HE LIMPS, OR DOESN'T USE IT AT ALL. WHEN YOU FEEL HIS PAW, BETWEEN HIS OUTER PINKY (I GUESS YOU CALL IT) AND THE TOE NEXT TO IT YOU CAN FEEL SOMETHING THERE.....LIKE A CYST TYPE OF FEELING THAT YOU GET ON YOUR ARM. BEFORE EVERYONE STARTS "GO TO THE VET..." I'VE GONE TOO 2. WE'VE DONE X-RAYS AND NOTHING HAD SHOWN UP. WHAT I NEED IS SOMEONE WHO MIGHT HAVE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM OR CLOSE TO IT TO TELL ME WHAT THE OUT COME FOR THEM WAS. I LOVE MY DOG........ALL 3 OF THEM, PLEASE GIVE ME SOME IDEAS!!!!

Many states r trying to pass breed specific laws that make owning a pit-bull illeagal. The laws not only make it illeagal to buy a new pit-bull, but any pit-bulls that r currently owned in the state where the statutes r being passed r being taken from their owners and being put to death, regardless of any wrong doing on the owner or the dog's part. Pets that have been family members 4 years r being taken from their homes by people who would like to make the breed extinct altogether. I was just wondering if anyone else besides me feels that this is a travesty of the most unthinkable type. People fight to keep sharks and all kinds of other breeds of animals far more dangerous than pit-bulls from extinction, but yet we r passing laws that r going 2 make an entire species extinct!! Who do these people think they r? They aren't God. Also anyone that agrees with these laws, I just want 2 know what ur justification is for them?Would u make any animal that has ever hurt someone extinct?

I received an e mail that stated that the ingredients in the cleaning solution in the Swiffer mop will cause cancer in dogs. They lick the paws after walking in it. My dog just died of cancer and I want to know if this is the cause.

How can I teach my dog to fetch anything and how to speak

I have 2 chihuahuas that are over a year, and their three puppies who will be 5 months, on Feb.2. I feed my older dogs Royal Canin Mini Chihuahua 28, that was recommended by my vet, and I feed the puppies, a different type of food, vet recommended. On the Royal Canin Bag, it says not to feed this to puppies under 8 months old. I have them set up in different rooms because I don't want them getting into each others food, but there may be a slight chance, that the pups may have eaten a little of the Royal Canin, and I was wondering, it that is dangerous, or is it ok, if they ate some?

I have two rat terriers and their teeth look bad. They are getting older and won't chew on rawhide anylonger and that used to keep their teeth pretty clean. Short of actually using a toothbrush, what is the best way to clean their teeth?

I bought a Papillon in the beginning of July last year. I still haven't received his papers and I'm wondering if there's a time limit for registering him with the AKC. If there is and I already missed it, what would you recommend? The pet store owner has assured me that "they're in the mail". But its been months. HELP!!!

I hear that this breed is a *high-strung type* as it is and was purchased from a pet store. I have heard that "pet-store" dogs are the worst kind of puppies to get because of the conditions they are kept in. BUT I do love my pet and want this to work out. He is only 4 months old, knows his name, and the "go to bed"(pet bed) command. He is usually confined to his crate or bathroom. I just can't seem to get him to stop *going* in the crate or in the rest of the apt. PLEASE HELP.....

My almost 5-month-old pup is chewing on everything!!! I live in an apartment so I can't afford to have her chewing on furniture and ripping at the wallpaper. She chews on toys and I lay out plenty of different ones to keep her occupied and I give her rawhide chews every day to keep her mouth busy, but she still insists on chewing on the cabinets, chair legs, and baseboards. Will this go on much longer?! And if so what can I do to keep her from messing up everything?

Hey,
I've been trying to teach my 12 week old Chihuahua/Jack Russell puppy to drop things on command, such as toys when we play fetch. Are there any particular techniques I can use to teach him this? He can be quite bitey at times, we're patient with him but it usually hurts, and I'm afraid that when his teeth get stronger he'll bite and not let go.

I have an 11 week old Weimaraner and he is doing well on housebreaking. I was thinking of getting another puppy, would this be easier or could it possibly make my puppy regress? Also, if I have two puppies, do I put them in the same crate when I'm gone or separate?
