Staffordshire bull terriers originated with the crossing of bulldog and English terrier,a new breed was born, known as the staffordshire,Undoubtedly, true staffordshire bull terriers are a breed apart. There is something special about them, hard to define, but easily recognisable for they possess uncanny intelegance, perception, great courage,and--something often lacking in other breeds----- a decided sense of humour. The staffy is a devoted companion dog,and the breeds kindness and gentleness with children is well known.I am bias as there is only one true Staffordshire bull terrier and it is ours.Plus, we do not crop our dogs ears.?/ what's that all about?

Some kennel clubs consider them the same breed, though this is not true, cause the American Staffordshire Bull terrier is also know as the Pitt Bull. Staffordshire Terriers and Staffordshire Bull Terriers have origins in Britian and Europe. Physically and color wise they are almost, remember i said almost, identical. The American Staffordshire Bull Terrier are an american breed by using Staffordshires and other local bulldog breeds long ago in there making. Most of the the Americans background is pure Staff or Staff mixed in the background pedigree of the dog while it was being made into a breed on its own. hope that helps heres a Am Staff sight
FYI American Staffordshire (AKA: Pitt Bull) does not have point ears, these ears are cropped. Its a cosmetic proceedure given as puppies. In the old days it was so that other dogs could not latch on to the ear and tear it during fights. There is no need and not all Pit Bull breeders do it. Its also not needed for showing or general ownership.

they're categorised as the same canine. They do have diverse body kinds and temperments. The Amstaff is shorter and stockier than an AmPitbull and has a fairly calmer temperment because of the yankee Pitbull Terriers particular breeding for strictly animal aggresion over generations for stupid canine battling. (Human Inbreeding)= Bred for a particular purpose. The Amstaff is more desirable of a relatives bred, protection canine, such as the rottweilers genetic bred job. I own 2 pitbulls that are fairly animal aggresive because of my canine bloodlines. in case you precise socialize a pitbull, you could administration their preychronic through understanding a thanks to dam it as an undesirable habit as with all different canine with temeperment topics. The time period "Pitbull" on my own is the variety of canine that encompass the yankee Pitbull Terrier, the yankee Staffordshire Terrier and The Staffordshire Bull Terrier. wish this facilitates.

As said before , the american staff is a pitt bull.
I used to have a pitt , he was beautifull, so gentle with children and kids. He was a "purebred" red nose american pitt. I rescued him from a fighting pit. He was in a pit with a metal collar on which was in turn chained to a concrete post. It was a gypsy camp that i went to . I went there to ask for water coz my mates car overheated. Felt like kicking the sh!t out of the bloke. I had buster for about three years until he died of a tuma. great with people but a nightmare with other dogs unfortunately.
