Dogs and cats do not have the proper enzymes to properly break down the sugar in milk which is called 'lactose.' You may have heard of people who are lactose-intolerant. They are also missing these digestive enzymes. If the proper enzymes are not present, the lactose remains undigested and tends to ferment in the intestine and cause diarrhea. Some pets can tolerate a little milk, others, none at all. If your pet enjoys and appears to tolerate milk, you can give your pet small amounts. Better yet, give your pet one of the special cat or dog milks on the market that have had the lactose removed.

No why would you give your dog milk? You're not even supposed to give it to cats, causes diarrhea. I'm sure the amount of milk from the cereal is not that much to matter.

The milk will be fine, but it is the sugar from the cereal that might cause the problem. Don't allow your dog to have chocolate (from cereal or any other type for that matter), or grapes. These items are dangerous for your dog. Also, feeding your dog table scraps is not as nourishing for him. This can cause obesity and other problems.

I have 2 German Shepherds, they are 8 years old and have had milk everyday of their lives. Its fine to give them milk as long as it doesn't give them diarrhea.

As long as your dog doesn't seem to have a reaction, then it's ok. Some dogs can't handle dairy products at all.

its not sugary cereal is it? Sugar isn't very good for dogs. But I give mine a little bit of milk every now and then...he loves it

Do not do that. Dogs can not digest the milk, and you won't make him sick, but you will make him very fat and he will form some very bad habits.

If your dog gets too fat he will be very sick later when he gets older.

It's okay...it won't hurt them. It may upset an adult dog's stomach and give them diarrhea though.
