I took my 16 wk old puppy to the vet for vaccinations and mentioned that she was sneezing a bit. The vet then told me she probably needed clavamox but he had to run blood tests and the whole thing would be $200! I asked if I could just have the clavamox and he said not unless I paid for all the tests. Otherwise the dog is healthy, no fever, lungs are clear and she is active and has a huge appeite. Am I a horrible dog mom for not paying the money and is it possible if she has aa cold it will just clear up on its own?

They said I am playing with nature. But I had to see the practical side as we live in an apartment and in a crowded city. I was told by the vet that to get my dog spayed it helps in the long run. I would also like to know if she have her menses how often do they come up and how to deal with it?

he is very good dog. like i said he needs to bulk up some. he eats dog food, but i also give him table food. he is very vocal. is this normal. he whines, puts his head in my lap, and just looks at me. is something wrong, because he has food water, and he has toys. my kids and i play with him as much as possible. so he is a big part of the family since he has been here.i just want him to know that we are not gonna be the ones to mistreat him.

My chihuahua is teething and I noticed recently that she moves her bottom jaw back and forth (while her top jaw remains stable) almost like she is grinding teeth? Is that normal for teething?
Also note she is not eating when she does this.

I just adopted a cocker mix yesterday night. He was a stray and was found one week ago, only in the "pound" for a day, then I got him. My question is - last night was his first night here and he was obviously nervous. He was shaking a lot, but has taken quite a liking to me, so seems to calm down when he's by me.

But, last night while I was sleeping, he got sick (threw up) like 7 ties throughout the house. I don't know why. I'm not sure if he's very sick (when he pooped yesterday, it was very solid so I have to believe he HAS been holding down food just fine), or if it was just nerves. I did give him a new kind of bone, maybe that just upset his stomach? Or, he did grab my son's roast beef sandwich last night (but honestly, I think the most he got was a bite of the bread because I immediately took it away).

What I want to know is - do you all think it could be his nerves? If he keeps it up, I will make a vet appointment for him, but I want to know what it could be...

8months old and she took a sudden liking towards me. I have her now for almost a year and a half. She has a phobia and it is very difficult to gain her confidence. If she walks with 1 person she is very scared to go far for walks. She just does her job and runs back to enter our building. If she is with 2 persons or more she acts very confident and loves to walk and play. She only gets scared with one person whom-so-ever be it. We do not know what must have happened in her first few months. How to make her confidently walk without her shivering and being scared?

This is going to sound like one of the stupidest problems..
Me and my gf have been going out for like a couple months now, i realy like her, but there is a problem, she lives in neighborhood which isnt very safe so she bought a guard dog, and that dog doesnt let anyone go inside except for her and her parents (she still lives with them) so she havent had any friend over since she has that dog, but i am realy curious to see her place, is there any way to solve this problem? she cant let the dog inside her house, because he would destroy everything so the dog lives outside, in as special dog house...

Hello everyone,
Over the course of the first 4 months of a puppy's life, they require a series of vaccinations (I believe 3). At what point in the process does the puppy receive a shot for rabies? Is it in the first round of shots, or is it involved in all 3? I need to know for customs/quarantine purposes, since I am taking my new puppy abroad soon...
I want to ask the breeder who is selling the puppy to me but I can't contact her right now and I want to know the answer now...
When I receive the puppy, he will only have had his first round of shots and then I am responsible for two more sets of vaccinations...when the puppy gets to me with his first round done, is he protected against rabies yet?
I don't know if this makes sense, I don't seem to be very articulate this morning...can anyone help me out?

Me & the boyfriend want a dog when we move in together, the trouble is we're arguing over which breed.
He wants an english bull terrier but I can't stand them,I think they're ugly and the last one I saw tried to rip my leg off.
I want a Rottweiler but he's saying no because I wont let him have an english bull.
We need a comprimise, what dog should we get? Someone suggested a German sheppard.

We just got a 2 month old Bichon, and the people that we got him from said to us that he was pure. They are breeders, but this puppy and another one were sent from another breeder to them to sell. Some people say he looks like a Maltese, or a combination of Bichon and Maltese. If someone can help me I'd really appreciate it.

She has chewed through to the copper wire in a couple appliances, and I'm surprised she hasn't hurt her self yet. Does anybody have any ideas to help get her to stop. I'm not home for a couple of hours, so I can't watch her all the time-I'm at school.
