would be best for my 4 year old... i love dachshunds, but only the long haired, she like jack russells, but they are very hyper. i also LOVE Cocker Spaniels xoxoxoxo. but i heard they are not the best with small children?? any ideas??

A good small dog that you might like (since you like Cockers) that are also good with children would be a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel: http://www.akc.org/breeds/cavalier_king_charles_spaniel/index.cfm - research this breed (or any other you may be interested in) throughly & see if it would fit well in your lifestyle. Be sure to buy from a reputable breeder that has certified the parent dogs free of heart & knee defects, also.

Daschunds and Jack Russells can be viscious with children. Try a Maltese or a Yorkshire Terrier. They are adorable and very sweet!

A pug would be a great dog for a small child. If she likes the jack russell, that would be a good dog for her, too.

Mini Schnauzer definately. I have one and she is the most lovable and friendly little dog. My kids love cuddling with her and she loves to play. They don't shed. They are a little high maintenance though, you have to take them every few months to get a hair cut and you have to pluck the hair from their ear canals so they don't get ear infections but they do that at the dog parlour if you don't want to do it yourself other than that I would highly recommend this breed.

have you thought a bout a foxy, i use to have 1 she was good.
there are lots of different sorts that would suit your child. poodles have very good temperments also very loving.
hope this helps abit. but in the end the decision is yours and your child....

i would go with a mini choclate schnauzer......i have one and she is the most sweet loving and gently playful dog ever. they are great with my neices and nephews and so much fun to love

get her a jack russell. if she wants it. i recomend a siberian huskey. they're huge but excellent with children
