I got my Shih Tzu about 6 months ago and I noticed she has brown spots on her belly. Why is that and are they harmful to her?

I don't know what there called but my dog had them too.I noticed they go away as your dog gets older. It's nothing you should worry about. If your dog is already big [not in size in age]then he might grow out of it,he might not.Because my dogs ten years old and she had about 8 spots at first and now she has three,so my dog didn't grow out of it yet and i don't know if it will, but if your dog grows out of it then GREAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
GOOD LUCK ON THE SPOTS PROBLEM!!!but bieleve me,what i'm telling you now is the right stuff that you and your dog are looking for.again,GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Probably nothing to worry about. Many dogs develop spots all over their skin as they mature - usually hidden by hair - hair on the belly is often thinner. Have you ever seen a dog after they've been shaved for surgery? At any rate, if it's just darkened skin, it's normal. If it looks cancerous or something, have it checked by a vet.

Our Shih Tzu has them and probably always will.
She is a little over 2 years old.
Her belly reminds us of a cow!
She is black and white.
I guess it is normal for that breed?

If they are flat they're probably just freckles. Dogs colouring changes as they mature.
