i have booked my 6 month border collie into obedience classes, to be honest he is a very well behaved pup, no real problems with him but just thought some training would be very helpful, i have 3 children and the trainer has said that they would be welcome to come along, i want them involved as much as possible but am a bit concerned them being present will distract alfie because he loves them to bits, is it a good idea to take them with me or should i take alfie on my own. any thoughts from anyone.

Is it better to let your dog graise (eat whenever it gets hungry) or to eat once a day I have heard opinions going both ways

why do people not clean up after their dogs ?i get really annoyed at people who let their dogs crap in the street and don't bother to clean it up!its not pleasant to get home and find dog crap on your shoes or on your childs buggy wheels.why don't they tie a bag to the dogs leash before going out then there is no excuse for not cleaning it up.i have seen many people letting their dogs have a crap in the street then walking off and leaving it.how would they like it if i did a crap on the street then left it there for people to tread in?i am not saying all dog owners are like this but please people clean up after your dogs!

My god is 9 months old and I have decided I want to get him neutered. Is it ok to do it at 9 months? Are there any risks with him being older?

In response to the news recently about dangerous dogs, who like me thinks that it is not the dogs that are entirely to blame for the attacks they carry out? I believe that many of the attcks could be prevented if the people who owned these such dogs trained them properly. Whenever I see someone with a staffordshire bull terrier or a rottweiler for instance, the people who own these dogs look like people who want to have fierce, aggressive dogs! And therefore I believe they (the owners) encourage the natural aggressive instinct in these animals. I am not saying all people are like this because I know of someone who has a rottweiler and the rottweiler is so gentle, simply because in my opinion the owner is a gentle person too and thus does not encourage the aggressive trait!

When th ONLY apparent symptom is gooey white puke, meaning that she is otherwise fine, is there a real big worry?

She's got her "just came home" vet visit in a few hours, but I'm wondering if anyone can tell me what it may be, so I can maybe suggest testing for it while we're there. We live in a rather crappy little area, and where our gigantic bird gets the best care availible in Gainseville, all the other pets gets thefunky "$40 per visit, no matter how many animals you have" deal out in Mclenny, so forgive me if I don't quite trust the vet. Heck, I don't trust the doctors around here after my psychologist yanked my meds in opt for what was either 1/4 or 1/2 of a dose of something right as I was starting a new school. I was on high doses of three different meds, so you know tht didn't go over well.

Anyways, anybody got anything to say about a 9 week old puppy vomiting white stuff?

This morning a horrible vicious little mongrel climbed a wire fence and 'visited' our 11 month old labrador who is in her first season. They had at up to an hour together before I disturbed them and the dog then tried to attack me and turned on the labrador. It then escaped back over the fence. Hmmm. I was wondering if I can have her spayed in a few weeks? If she is pregnant can the vet deal with the puppies at the same time? We are shocked by this as we are responsible dog owners and have kept the dog away from all others for the last 3 weeks..we just werent expecting a good climber! Also would the neighbour be liable to pitch in financially?

I have a 5 month old Lab puppy. Ever since her "puppy breath" went away, her breath has been very strong. Like the food she eats but x1000.

Are there any treats I can give her to help combat her bad breath? Or should I think about changing dog foods? I'd rather not have to start a toothbrushing regiment for her since she HATES having her teeth even looked at!

Well, my bro in law's dog has given birth to 4 cute puppies, and every morning just as the sun is up, he takes in the backyard to make them 'warm'? Is this safe? Only for like 10 minutes tho.

I took a pic...care to look?

His food is dry but we recently started adding water to it so he slows down as he eats. He is teething and his molars and a few canines have dropped recently. Also because he started obedience school a few weeks back we have added moist treats to his diet (natural balance, roll-over) as incentives during training. Should I be worried (ie... worms?) or is this just bc of the softer food building up?
He has been through deworming meds in full and has all his shots.

I have a year old IG (italian greyhound) his name is Jackie. at a young age we started him on agility, he's really good at it but I would like to start him on other activities to burn off energy. He is fast but not amazingly considering his breed so nothing would probably be competitive. He can't fit a standard size tennis ball in his mouth (too small) so I don't think he can do fly ball. If you know of andy safe activities to do with him pleas tell me. thanks!!!

My puppy is 14 weeks old. Had her since she was seven weeks.
She has done perfect in the crate and has no accidents and is totally potty trained.
But the past week or two she has been winning and barking to let her out at 2 am and wants fed and then 2 hours later wants out again. I know she can hold her potty through the night because she has done it for 12 weeks. My friend said she is being boss and just wants out and I need to let her cry. Need some helpful advice. I put her to bed when I go to bed which is 11pm and I had been getting up with her at 6 am and feeding her and letting her go potty. I am fine with letting her cry but don't know since she is still pretty young. She is a golden retr. by the way. Thanks for all the helpful advice!
