I have to get my little chihuahua spayed, but I need to know how much it's gonna cost me so that I know if I should get pet insurance for my baby.

How do I get the pet coverage? Which is best? And how does it work?

Please help me!!!!

Recently my pup made some rather erotic movements while sleeping. I thought it was cute and funny, so I just shrugged it off, but he's done it again. Should I be concerned? Is it time for me to get the little guy a mate?

I have a 13 year old yorkshire terrier who has allergies, it seems that they are getting worse with age. He is on moist food because of bladder problems, the food has cranberries in it and seems to help that but the skin hasn't gotten any better. I keep him away from beef products, the food I give him is very expensive Eagle Pack, he also has a thyroid condition. I am up for suggestions as to what I can do to help him , he has pulled some hair out on his hind legs. Thanks for any suggestions.

I live in a new neighborhood, and my neighbors seem to be nice people. However, they have a huge dog that they keep in the back yard that barks every time a car passes by or if I'm standing in my yard or if a car pulls up in my yard. That really does not bother me. The thing that kills me is the dog howls at all times during the night, and he is LOUD!! The dog sounds like he is dying out there. The only thing I can associate his howling with is police/ambulance sirens that I've heard in the distance when he begins to howl. I am a very quiet person who enjoys peace and quiet once I get home from work. This dog's howling kills me. I know it's instinctive, but is there any thing that can be done to stop (or lessen) his howling? I don't know, but I was thinking of some type of high-frequency whistle or signal that can be blown or activated everytime I hear him howl that would agitate him and condition him eventually not to howl. Any ideas are appreciated.

My pup has a broken paw and the vet put on a splint. It lasted about a week and she managed to chew it off. We keep a sock over it to try and prevent this but she figured out how to get it off. The new splint was put on monday and it's already off again. What can I do to keep her from removing it? It's taped on with that bandage tape stuff, which I guess is really fun to chew. We keep her confined, and we try to watch her but it only takes a few minutes for her to chew it off.... Any ideas???

I just recently added an 11wk old Shih Tzu to my family. I am trying to crate train her, but it seems to be impossible. I take her outside after she eats, drinks, and wakes up from her naps, but nothing seems to stop her from using the bathroom in her crate. The crate is only big enough for her to stand up in and lay down in. She poos and pees all inside the crate and she has to be lying in it because the crate is very small. When I take her outside, we stay out there for about 30mins or so and she does not use the bathroom outside at all. But as soon as I bring her in the house and put her in her crate, about 3 seconds later I start smelling her poo or pee. Someone please help because this is really frustrating me. (I bought some of that spray that you are supposed to use when you want them to "go" where you want them to, but it doesn't seem to be working)

I have shepherd cross puppy, 5.5 weeks old, who eagerly turns around after eliminating (urine or feces) and laps it up. If I catch her, which I usually do, and pick her up, she wiggles around like she is looking for it, she wants it that bad. She is on home made food, which consists of raw beef, cooked mashed vegetables (currently carrots, potatoes, cabbage, though it is variable), the odd raw egg yolk, buttermilk, milk, butter, water. Yesterday she got some bones from the butcher shop to chew on.

My kids are 11, 9, 3 and a 6mth baby. Should I wait until the baby is walking before getting a puppy? Does anyone have any good advice or personal experience of kids and pets... also the type of dog... we have a decent yard and are active. I've had dogs before but not as a child.

My little dog, who was abused when we got him and six months old, pees everytime when somebody comes over that he likes. Every day when I come from work he gets so excited that he pees a little when I'm putting his leash around his neck. Why does he do it? What can we do it to stop him. Also when we leave him alone at home he has "little accidents," that is he poops every now and then. I don't think that he has a bladder problem or any other health problem because when we are home on weekends he doesn't do anything and waits even longer to go outside. Please help me!

I live in a two bedroom apartment with a roommate who fortunately loves dogs. My dog is about 55 lbs. and is really a sweet dog but he has lived with in a house up until now with a backyard. Since I have brought him to my apt, he is constantly worried about all of the noises he hears from other apartments in the building. He gets really restless and whines a lot. When I left for work, he was whining after I closed the door. I am afraid he will do this all the time! I wish I didn't have to bring him here but I don't have a choice. I love him lots and don't want to get rid of him. I am a college student and can't really afford to bring him to doggy day care. How can I help him calm down? And will time allow him to get used to all of the new noises? Is there anything I can do to prevent him from whining when I leave?

My shitzu is 9 and all over his body he is flaky with dry skin. He has always had dry skin, but as he getts older his skin getts worse. He has a great diet, I wash him with a special oatmeal shampoo 2/3 times a month, and I give him treats a couple times a day. Nothing seems to help. When I do a search to find a a cure the resultes are expensive pills. Without having to take him to a vet, what can I do to cure or help his dry skin?

My dog sleeps in her kennel at night. I buy dog beds for her to sleep on and everytime I do that she tears it up in there. I wake up only to find her bed in shreds inside her kennel. But when she sleeps in there for a nap during the day nothing happens. It's cold now and she still chews up her bed and I feel so bad because she's probably cold, but not matter how many beds I get her the same thing happens. What can I do so that she doesn't chew up her bed when she sleeps at night?

I am 100 pounds, the puppy is already at 70lbs.
Yes- the puppy is a large breed dog. She keeps pulling and I cannot walk with her at all. I am out of breath and my backs and legs are aching after trying to walk. Thus, I need solid advice.
