She may be in serious need of attention, it's not about her age, and how much time do you spend with her. What type of dog is she? If she is a jack russel, then she needs like 5 hours each day of SERIOUS attention. Take her out for 5 hour walks or so. And not just walking her, take her to the park or something.

For a poodle. just spend time with her.

Please tell what kind of dog you have.

dogs can sometimes bark if they have a hearing problem. I have looked into this as one of my dogs is deaf. Her eyesight is spot on though and she will sometimes bark a lot, especially in an evening when she sees things we dont notice. She will stop this though if i close the curtains unless there is a car coming down the street then she can feel the vibration. try clapping behind her head when shes not looking at you.

Dogs can become senile. Behavior changes like constant barking, pacing, wandering the house, panting, and getting lost when she goes outside are common symptoms of doggie dementia. Like Alzheimer's it's something you try to manage, but it's not curable. There are special diets and medications that can help if that's what it is.

Does she stop barking when you take her out? When you feed her? Perhaps she hears a sound you cannot detect. Nobody around with a dog whistle I hope. Investigate. Take her for a walk around your property. She may sense something amiss. Ask her, "What is it girl? Show me." Then follow her lead.
If that fails to calm her, take her to the vet. She may be ill.

Sounds like she is lonely and wants to hang out with you guys. Is there a reason she can't come in the house? How does she behave when you come back from a walk, does she resist going back into the kennel? Pets need companionship and she is elderly, cut her a brake and love her a little.

First, make sure she's not barking AT something. Is she hearing a noise that's making her bark? Is there perhaps, a squirrel or something in your attic?

If this is a fairly new behavior, it could be that she has a hearing loss. Dogs and cats often get noisier when they start to lose their hearing.

my dog does that too and i think it has something to do with them being tied up. some dogs dont like to be tied up and they start barking to get your attention.

She could be getting senile. You could take her to a vet and they can observe her. Also might feel around her and make sure she's not in pain anywhere.

since she is that old she may need constant companionship. i would get her a pal either a real pup or toy dog.
