Put your trash behind a locked door. Or babysit him for a day and scold him for even looking at it, he will realize the can is a very bad thing

1. (Agrees) Move the can where the dog cant reach it.
2. Pruchase a can with a lid that only opens when you push that lever with your foot.
3. When the dog does it make shure you let him know that you are not happy and send to the cage or room, or outside.( mwake shure you only do this if caught right away, dogs have short attention span)
4. Reward with a treat when you come home and no damage was done.
If you contuinue to have problems you may need to take him for some training or contact the dog whisperer.. even watch it. When animals misbehave they are showing disrespect and telling you that you are not the boss. You need to re-establish that owner-pet relationship with it or this is only the beginning.

If the trash is outside, pour some amonia on it, dogs can't stand the smell. If it's inside, when he starts getting into it, put a little bit of Vick's Vapor Rub on his nose, just a little bit though, dogs hate that stuff.

Put the trash where he cannot get it or secure the trash can so it stays in one place and get a secure lid for it.

put the trash can is a closet or in the pantry. you could also look for a can that has a lid that fits tight on the can.

You can put it on your sofa, under your trash can, any where, when your dog steps on it, its very uncomfortable, and he'll avoid it.

I used to use it undere my elevated bird cage, to keep my dogs from messing with their cage. It worked great, and now they aren't interested in them at all.

just a suggestion

Simply move the trash container to somewhere he cannot get to it. Also, teach and reinforce the word NO.
