My little Tenterfield Terrier (mini foxy X jack russell I think) manages to get bitten by nasty black ants. Our yard has thousands of them unfortunately. She suffers a lot of pain and limps holding her foot up and licks it heaps to help in the healing. She even holds her paw up when doing a poo!! :) What can I give her to releive her pain. I've tried running cold water over it but alas she still suffers badly. I'm training her to look for ants on her feet with the emphasis on the word "ANTS!!" and she is smelling her feet all the time to check if they are trapped under her paws. But despite all this still gets bitten often. Has anyone else had a similar problem and how was it solved? I look forward to your reply.

My puppy has/had tape worms, he got his medicine today, but he slept in our bed last night, and when we woke up we saw the little rice grains of it ( I guess part of the worms?), I've sprayed lysol and cleaned but afraid they're in the carpet or something, what can we do?

My puppy is 4 months old and is about 98% house-trained. I work during the day and I still have to come home at lunch to let her out and feed her, but I want to know about how old she will have to be before she can be left alone all day.

(She's a golden retriever/chocolate lab mix and is really smart!)

i have an american bull dog. She's 2 and a half. one particular trick she does is "walk" where she balances on her hind legs, sometimes takes steps or hops forward. (i usually have a treat in my hand to guide her). well...the other day she snatched the treat out of my hand without doing the trick and i made a loud gasping sound bc im not used to her "cheating"--she's a very good obedient dog. Anyway, she immediately cowered apologetically when i gasped and now she wont "walk" for me anymore. she'll do it for my boyfriend...just not me. i could be offering her peanut butter and she'll dart off and run away when i say "walk." I'm afraid i've caused irreparable harm...what can i do?!

I took him to one place that I thought abused him. The first time I took him there he did great. The next time he didn't do so well and I just thought possibly he had a bad day. The third time he was biting them and acting up at home.

Not like him at all so I called a different groomer who told me that they were noted for abusing animals and convinced me that she would do a much better job and he would get over it.

After about another year he is not any better, he is bad with the groomer and then bad at home for about a week.

I talked to a different groomer who has explained to me why he is behaving the way he is and said that she knew the second groomer and she probably wasn't any better than the first. She is going to let me stay with him while she grooms him but my question is will he ever get over this and if so how long do you think it should take?

I know its kind of a long question but any suggestions would be great.

Should I be worried about a dangerous alergy? She was very sick with the second bite and she swelled very seriously. I plan to call and vet and get the exact benedryl dose for her as she is very small, 3lbs.
I have been warned that each reaction will be increasingly worse.

I have a 10 month old female rottweiler, and she is scared of objects like bikes, and things that make a lot of noise. She gets scared when i drag the kitchen chair on the kitchen floor. She is also scared of the ocean and the big waves. But the funny thing is when someone comes into my house she barks, but I don't know if she would do anything to protect me. I guess she realy doesn't need to do anything, just being a rottweiler that bars is enough. Will continueing to showing her things like bikes, and the ocean help calm her fears? And how do I get her to stop being so nervous?

I'm sorry to say, this vet my mom took my puppy to was a bloody hack. Confused our dogs' sexes *called the obviously male dog a she, and the female puppy a he* did a fecal float for the WRONG dog. Tried to give the puppy another parvo vaccine. That's not all of it, but it still ticks me off, even a week later. She'll be seeing a different vet as soon as I can get the ride out there. Darn me for dropping out and revoking my privledge to get my liscence till I'm 18, but what's done is done.

Either way, when he checked her eyes *upon request only* he decided it was an infection and possibly mange. He sold us a tube of what I think is anti-biotic gel to put in her eyes two to three times a day. We've been keeping up religiously for a week now, and there is no improvement.

Should I continue with it, even though it doesn't even help with her rubbing her eyes?
What do you think it could be? She's a papillon, 2 1/2 months old. Is it just normal? I think the goo is making things worse.

She gulps some food then walks around in a circle while chewing it and then completes the circle at the bowl again when she swallows and takes another bite.

I am thinking about purchasing a chihuahua, 4 months old. The woman I'm buying him from originally bought him to keep her 2 year-old chi company, but the older chi just doesn't get along with the younger, so now she has to get rid of the younger. The lady said he currently weighs 2 and a half pounds. Both the puppy's parents are said to be purebred chihuahuas, mother is 4 and a half pounds (chocolate/tan longcoat), father is 3 and a half pounds (white/black short coat). When I asked about registry, the lady said that the puppy was registered with the CKC, which isn't as good as the AKC but she was only looking for pet quality, not show quality. But if both the puppy's parents were "purebred", doesn't this mean they should be AKC registered? Should I be bothered that this puppy doesn't qualify for AKC, or is it okay if I'm not planning on breeding or showing? Is the $350 asking price reasonable for this puppy?

Breed Specific Legislation. For those who don't know what it is, it regulates what breeds can and can't live in certain cities and such. The main targets are pit bulls, GSDs, Dobermans, and Rottweilers. I've also heard of places saying any dog over 100 lbs can't live there. It's supposed to lower problems with vicious dogs and dog fighting. I don't think it works because I know of one place in particular that had a lower dog fighting problem before they instated BSL. I also think it's stupid because responsible people are going to follow the law, and those who actually fight the dogs and such will just keep them there on the black market.
