i have an american bull dog. She's 2 and a half. one particular trick she does is "walk" where she balances on her hind legs, sometimes takes steps or hops forward. (i usually have a treat in my hand to guide her). well...the other day she snatched the treat out of my hand without doing the trick and i made a loud gasping sound bc im not used to her "cheating"--she's a very good obedient dog. Anyway, she immediately cowered apologetically when i gasped and now she wont "walk" for me anymore. she'll do it for my boyfriend...just not me. i could be offering her peanut butter and she'll dart off and run away when i say "walk." I'm afraid i've caused irreparable harm...what can i do?!

Don't worry. She is remorsefull for biting you while getting the treat.
Just be cuddly with her and let her know you love her. Don't push her to do tricks for you quite yet.
She is obviously a sensitive dog, but she will probably be back to normal with you in a week or two.
It just takes a little time for them to be sure you aren't mad or hurt anymore and she is trying to show you respect by not repeating the situation that caused you pain.

Good luck!

face to face...sit down with your doggie and talk about why you may have scared him/her. animals listen and understand, take some extra time and explain the situation to your doggie throughtout the week, one time each day. then try the trick. he/she may respond. love and affection.
