My puppy has/had tape worms, he got his medicine today, but he slept in our bed last night, and when we woke up we saw the little rice grains of it ( I guess part of the worms?), I've sprayed lysol and cleaned but afraid they're in the carpet or something, what can we do?

vaccuum. the segments contain eggs that usually a flea will eat, then when your dog should eat the flea, the larvae will hatch and the cycle starts all over again. vaccuum your carpet and have your dog treated for fleas. i prefer frontline. but advantage works just as well. even if you use these, it can still happen, simply because fleas are on the wildlife in your yard. just keep up on your fea protecting and it will help. good luck.

What medication was it? If it was just for tapeworms, one dose ought to do it (unless/until he eats a flea which is carrying a tapeworm larva, which is how he got the worm in the first place).

If he has other types of worms like hookworms, whipworms, or roundworms, the medication may only take care of the adults and not stay in the system long enough to kill the worms that hatch in a few days from the eggs which are also in there. So, depending on what worms he had, and what the medication was, he may need another dose in 10-14 days, and maybe 10-14 days after that.

If you have any questions or concerns you should call your vet.

The cleaning advice in other answers was good.

Good luck!

Tapeworms are very common and he just got his medicine today so you may still have seen something the same day. However, the worms dry up after they are out and look more like dried up cucumber seeds at that point. Just vacuum and clean and let your Vet know what you have noticed because it wouldn't be unusual for this treatment to need to be re done.
I have been around dogs/puppies with tapeworms since I was a little kid. They got treated but I never got worms of any kind from a dog though it is technically possible. Just be clean, get him re-checked, tell any concerns to your Vet for re-assurance.
There are dust mites in your air-conditioning filters and they are alive.
Tapeworms come from ingesting fleas. So ask your Vet about the best flea prevention for your puppy and as long as you are not eating fleas you should be safe. ; )

Just thoroughly wash everything in a hot water cycle with bleach, that will kill anything on the bedding.

Is the medication from the vet? If so, the ones you saw were most likely dead, but it doesn't hurt to be on top of the situation.

Clean the dog's crate and other surfaces well and deworm every 10 days or so, with the medication you got from your vet.
Eventually you will deworm at longer intervals but you have to keep up with it because the worms are at different life stages in the puppy's body.

Good luck!

I agree with some of the other answers, internal parasites cannot survive outside of a host. They can't live in carpets like fleas, they have to be inside a living body. Just run a vaccuum to pick up the dead bodies and you'll be fine.
