My vet and the people at the local pound are always saying that there are severall health benifits of spaying/neutering according to "studies" and yet whenever i ask where i can find a copy of this study they all can't tell me.

i had looked on the net off and on for the last couple years and there was a couple sites that said that there was also negative side effects as well but once again no specific studies.

please no spca crusaders posting their "facts" i would actually like to see this study itself if it actually truly does exist.

We give her toys, bones and the like and don't know what to do with her anymore. She has already chewed up the sprinkler system, the door jams, the fence, a couple of patio umbrellas and much more. My husband is ready to get rid of her at any moment. What suggestions can anyone give me to get her to stop the chewing?

Just wanting to clear it all up...I love Dobermanns but feel that they are less of a Dobe when they have their tails [I don't want to hear lectures about the "cruelties of tail docking" & "cosmetically altering our dogs" so save it please].

All I am asking is if any Dobe breeders, within Australia, could enlighten me on the current situation with tail docking! Is it possibly to get a pup without a tail these days?

Okay, I know puppies begin losing their teeth between 5 and 6 months, but is it abnormal for them to lose them early? I ask because my Lab is only 18 weeks old and for the last week her teeth have been bleeding when she chews on things. It started out as small spots but now she's bleeding pretty bad on everything she puts in her mouth. I know this is a sign of her getting ready to lose teeth - though for the life of me I can't see what tooth (teeth) are bleeding - but is this too young? How long usually are the teeth lose before they fall out? I'm not too worried about it because I know it's normal. Guess I'm just curious because my other puppy isn't showing any signs of loose teeth yet. They are both scheduled to be spayed on Feb. 7th but they have to at least lost one tooth to have it done according to the vet and I don't know if I chould reschedule Ravyn's since she's not losing teeth yet. Thanks! Serious answers only and no smarta** comments!

I know this question might sounds crazy but here is my story in a nutshell. The day before Christmas my family and I adopted a one year old bloodhound named Zoe from our local animal shelter. She is a very sweet and mild manner dog. She is a little shy and rarely barks. Recently though I noticed something a little odd.....sometimes, usually at night, when I'm sitting on our couch in our family room Zoe will randomly go into a fit of barking. She will get right in front of me and start barking and growling but although she is in front of me she looks past me like over my shoulder and she seems to be following something because her head will go side to side. I always look behind me into the rest of the room and never see anything. She not only barks but she starts growling and when I reached out to her last night I could feel her whole body trembling.

I will take him outside to go to the bathroom, and he'll go, but then he'll come inside the house and urinate in front of me.

They're the "mini rottweilers" (although they dont have rott blood) And I want one SO BAD! My boyfriend's getting a Rott and I think they'd be such a cute pair.

I'm just curious to hear from someone who actually has one- what is their temperment?

Okay, I have a Yorki-Poo and I don't know whether she has an ear infection or ear mites. She scratches her ears and shakes her heard, but I don't see any bugs (not sure if you can see mites) but I don't see any bad discharge from her ears either.

I got some ear mite treatment today, anyone else had this problem? I'm going to try the mite treatment for a few days and if it doesn't get any better I'm taking her to the vet.

Well i recently had to go on a 2 week holiday, leaving my 4 month old german shephard with my parents. This little guy was my best friend and only ever listened to me, he would follow me around everywhere!now when i came back i could see the obvious growth in him. He wagged his tail and came over to me, but not as i expected him to, he was shy and soon walked over to my mom while being praised by her. But my step father has aparently been with him all day everyday while i was gone, my mother said so. She said he is more active with him, i never really understood this as i take him on walks twice a day. I now see that she loves it when things like this get to me so she gets a thrill when i call the dog and he doesnt listen no more, only to her and my step father. I am pretty angry with the situation as i virtualy raised the dog, i hardly see him nowadays , but still have to clean up his ****, PLEASE help me win my dog back! PLEASE!!!
