Yes, your puppy will be fine alone for 6-8 hours per day.

You are providing a loving and caring secure environment. He will soon learn when it is time to play and when it is time to be alone.

Even active dogs need alone time.

He may cry at first but will soon adapt to the schedule you provide for him.

Keep him on the same schedule and he will be just fine.

Depends on how old the dog is.
Take the dogs age in months and add one and that number is an estimate of the hours a dog can "hold it".
So if you are getting a 2 month puppy then no, the puppy needs to be let out every 3 hours.
Also since the dog is going is going to be alone in the house or crated for 6-8 hours, the dog will need to get some exercise to release excess energy (preferably beforehand) so you don't run into seperation anxiety, barking or these kind of behavior problems.

It depends on how old the dog is. We have 2 dogs, both mixes, and they are one and two years old. They stay at home when we are at work, but I come home on my lunch break to let them out. But they are in there from 8:00-1:00 and then 2:00-5:00. They are trained to do that. But also, dogs have no sense of time. So if you are gone for 10 minutes at the store, or 3 hours at work, it will feel the same to them. It just depends on how much your dog can handle. Good Luck!

I have a jack russell terrier and he's just fine home alone. I don't cage him, I just leave him in the bedroom with the door closed and the tv on. He watches tv all day and plays! Terriers can get irritated if they feel you are ignoring them too much (tear stuff up) so make sure on the weekends he gets plenty of Park and Play time!

Just make sure you take him out to potty before you leave, when you get home, and before you go to bed.

The first thing I would make sure is that he gets walked at least 3 times a day, for 45 minutes each time. Terriers are high energy, high maintenance, smart dogs.

They need lots of discipline and direction.

This can be best obtained from training classes, "doggie day care", a proper size dog crate, and the proper toys/bones.

Also you may want to consider hiring a professional dog walker, to help keep him nice and healthy.

Remember, a tired dog is a happy dog! If you can exercise the heck out of him, he will be the happiest dog in the world!

hope this helps!

Only if it's a full-grown dog. A puppy needs attention and can't be left for more than 2-3 hours.

You might want to consider finding a dog-sitter that could come in mid-day and take the dog for a walk / play with it while you're at work.

Jack Russell terriers have A LOT of energy. They are also strong willed and hard headed which makes them difficult to train. I'm not trying to scare you and stop you from getting one, but they do require a lot af attention. Crating them while you are gone is a good way to keep them out of anything they might tear up.

it depends on how old he is...you can give an hour alone per each month of age..that is recommended..i saw this on a dog training show the other day. Example, if hes 3 months old the suggested max time for alone time is 3 hours..so on and so forth.

Jack Russel's are very high strung and if left alone for a long period of time they will become bored and tear things up and get into things that they're not supposed to.
