What there biological mother? Maybe at first... I think puppies miss there siblings as play mates more... but eventually dogs forget about there biological family. Dogs live in the moment... not the past. There memories are not the longest... surely not as long as a humans.

Puppies can go through a separation anxiety period after first being taken away from their mother. But after some time, they forget. Once animals are weaned fully (emotionally as well as nursing) from the mother, in cats and dogs, they become just another animal to each other. I have taken my Lab pups back around their mother and they all acted as if they had no clue who the other was.

if they are adopted to a loving home as young puppies no. dogs are genetically wired to know that the time with mom is limited. they need to be left with mom for at least 7-10 weeks to learn from mom and the littermates if any, and then instinct tells them it's ok to leave. if their new home is very loving and fits the pups needs, they will be a happy dog.

I believe they do. When we got our puppy we crated her and she whined in the night. I made it very cozy and comfy for her and I even put in a little warming bottle ....
They say you should have the crate in your bed room and the dog would be calmer. I did not know that when we got our puppy.
I just wish we would know how much they miss their Mom and/or siblings.....now our dog thinks I am the Mom and follows me around wherever I go...

Just like little kids!!! My Olde English Bulldogge has to be kenneled when I go to work as she will tear my house apart from separation anxiety! The poor baby-I adopted her ,so I'm not for sure what her background history is-but I do know she has to have someone around every couple hours! Thank goodness I can take her to work most of the time (vet's office)!

Not really - by the time they leave their mom and litter mates, they've been weaned for a while and their mom spends little time with them. What they do miss is the interaction with their litter mates, but even that doesn't last long.

yes they do, and their brothers and sisters badly, really badly for the first week. Then they settle down. Put him in his crate at night with loads of nice snuggly towels and toys, and a chew and listen to him howl for a week. Offer reassurance but don't go runing to him. Then he will settle and begin to love the crate as a safe haven, trust me. It is difficult for the first week, but good after that

yes they do. dogs are pack animals, and DO LOVE. but after awile i guess they do get "over" it in a way. but during that time, you need to be the mother for them becuase thats what they are missing, someone who loves them, and loving someone.
