Well i recently had to go on a 2 week holiday, leaving my 4 month old german shephard with my parents. This little guy was my best friend and only ever listened to me, he would follow me around everywhere!now when i came back i could see the obvious growth in him. He wagged his tail and came over to me, but not as i expected him to, he was shy and soon walked over to my mom while being praised by her. But my step father has aparently been with him all day everyday while i was gone, my mother said so. She said he is more active with him, i never really understood this as i take him on walks twice a day. I now see that she loves it when things like this get to me so she gets a thrill when i call the dog and he doesnt listen no more, only to her and my step father. I am pretty angry with the situation as i virtualy raised the dog, i hardly see him nowadays , but still have to clean up his ****, PLEASE help me win my dog back! PLEASE!!!

It will just take time. You need to be the one that is taking him on walks, and feeding him. You need to spend more time with him than anyone else. If you want him to love you again, you are going to have to give him more of your time until he loves you again. Give him a treat now and then when he does something good. Do not yell at him if he does something bad. Punish him, but do not, I repeat do not yell at him!! Dogs do not like this and get angry very easily. They are man' best friend, but they are not perfect. I do not think you said, but do not leave your dog at your parent's house. Keep him away from your step dad so the elationship is broken. It will be a repeat of what happened when you were gone. You will be the one giving him love and attention and treats and everything the dog wants, instead of your step dad. I hope your dog will love you again.
GOOD LUCK!!

Happens to me all the time. I've raised my dog for 6 years, the only one he listens to, the only one he really loves and cares about. I go away for months at a time and when I come home he's a little distant. I just walk him and give him a lot of attention. I just spoil the hell out of him. The person he bonds with when I'm gone is my mom, and she's not very nice to him anyways, so it's a little easier for me than it might be for you, but maybe not considering how long I go away for. It was 5 months first time, 1 month second time, next time will be about 6 months. Spoil him!!!

Sounds like you are a little jealous that you best buddy got to care about someone else. But that is okay, I would be a little bit too. Now, you need to give you pup extra loving attention. Win him back. How long have you been back, if only a couple of days then you need to give him more time.
Try to limit the amount of time he spends with your mother and step-father. Meanwhile, keep up the loving of him and giving him extra special time and attention.

I would have liked the weim to have placed in the group, but realistically Jimmie wasn't going to beat the number 1 dog in the country right now and that is Beckham the Black Cocker Spaniel that won the group. Yes I loved that Hickory won BIS, out of that line up it was her show. I am glad the judge didn't choose the smooth fox terrier as that is his breed, and the SFT was rumored to win the whole thing. I wanted Maddie the Amstaff to place as well, if not win the group, she is just stunning. And for James the great dane to get snubbed was just ridiculous.

Don't give up.He will come back around. If you have problems with him get a coke can and put a penny in it and tape it up and shake it at him and say NO!NO!.Always use 1-2 syllable words during training. They seem to understand them more.He will come back around .Sometimes they just bond with other people especially if the person likes them.Just think what could have happened if he had not gotten along with your father.Just think now you have a great baby sitter.Look on the bright side!!Good Luck!!!!

I really sympathize with you.But the dog is loving all the attention he seems to be getting. I have six dogs that i spend all my time with. I know most people can't do that, or wouldn't even if they could. So if you can't give him the time & attention they seem to enjoy giving him, let him remain in a happy envirement. Dogs just love us older more settled people. He still loves you, spend lots & lots of time with him & he will know who his owner is, do the feeding, bathing, all the care-taking. Best of luck

I travel a lot for business, my 2 dogs see my suitcase and start acting wierd because they know I'm leaving.
Usually when I get back, they're stand-offish for a few days, then it's like I never left again.
Have patience, the dog will forgive you and be your best friend again before you know it!

treats, treats and more treats.
your dog will associate you with happy feelings and good tastes... you'll win your dog back in no time!
and i DO mean dog treats, not people treats/food.
and NOT "doggie biscuits" / "doggie cookies", go for the "Natures Best" sausage like food or some other kind of expensive dog treats that your dog can chew and swallow quickly.
this is sure to create wonderful and bonding experiences and your dog will take to you in no time!
