For Christ sake, get that poor animal to a vet! No dog should do that. Get a shampoo.

Probably allergies. I have a dog that tears at the back of his head and ears really badly in the spring and fall. Watch to see which season's are the worst. You can also try to switch to a lamb and rice food, or a higher quality than you may be feeding now. Lamb has the least allergens. Try to use an aloe & oatmeal shampoo, anything else can irritate her skin and actually make the problem worse (kinda like when we react the laundry detergent). If the problem is still there after 6 weeks off the food change, you may want to see your vet & get allergy meds or insturctions on how much bendaryl to give your pet when she itches.

The best solution is to have a vet look at the problem. It doesn't necessarily have to be fleas in order for your dog's ear to bleed. It can be an ear infection, ear yeast infection, or ear mites. It could also be something within the head itself.

You should also talk to the vet over the phone and see what they say. Most likely they will tell you to come in and look at the problem because it can be damaging to your dog. It can cause your dog to become deaf, ear problems in the future, or worse.

Good Luck.

It could possibly be ear mites. These are very irritating for dogs and cause excessive scratching and head shaking. Alot times ear mites are accompanied with ear wax that is brown in color. If ear mites are the problem, the vet has a one time ear drop that should take care of the problem. Either way I would take the dog to the vet and have it checked out. Good Luck!

there is a good website that has many different home remedies that are cheap and really work on dog itchies! There are even testimonials to the remedies and some before and after pics of some of the dogs treated w/ the home remedies. I myself used Ted's remedy #1 for my dog and it worked like a charm!! What I use regularly now to keep the itchies away{ after i used ted's remedy to stop the itching and bleeding} is spraying my dog daily with APPLE CIDER VINEGAR from the health food store, i fill up a spray bottle with it UNDILUTED and spray her daily, everywhere. she smells like a salad until she dries. It also makes her fur very silky and soft. Please check it out before you spend your money at the vet! The remedy starts to work with the first application!! I am not against going to the vet, but not for everything. Some things can be treated at home with homeopathic remedies. the website is listed below. Good Luck! P.S do NOT use the apple cider vinegar spray on your dog until she' scabbed up cuz it burns on open sores.

if your dog has fleas, then you are not going to just want to give her a bath, because fleas stay inside the carpet, and can get back on your dog. but i dont think it sounds like your dog has fleas, it is winter time, and it sounds like your dog might have dry skin. Dogs get dry skin alot in the winter, my dog has it. and she is always itching. try using some dog shampoo that has oatmeal in it, and was her with it and maybe it will help.

You have to watch your dog and make sure that he doesn't scratch. If he continues to bleed you have to make sure that you take him right to the Vets office right away!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! He could get hurt if he bleeds too much and get hurt if you don't get that looked at soon!!!!!
Good Luck and i hope he is okay!!!

She needs to be checked out. It could be parasites or it could also be some kind of mange. Get her to the vet right away.
