I have a German Import German Shepherd who has always been on the lean size. He is 2 years old & has fell down to 70 pounds. I took him to the vet who ran blood tests, checked his liver, kidneys; checked for parasites including heartworms, thyroid etc. Everything came back normal & she said all that they could find is that he has an extremely high metablosim rate. She also outfitted him with some kind of special pedometer to see how far he runs a day. The pedometer clocked him at around 10 miles a day (we live on several acres of land) . He is an EXTREMELY driven dog~~at 7 months old he was tracking 600 yards in 30 minutes & his prey drive is astounding!

We put him in a 40x80 foot dog lot at the vets suggestion to try & keep him from running so much but he just ran the dog lot all day. He comes inside when he wishes & gets plenty of attention.

More in the comment section because I have run out of room!

We recently had to treat our dogs with Revolution for Sarcoptic mange. We rescued a stray puppy without realizing that he had mange. After 8 weeks, the other dogs in our house started showing symptoms. We treated them all with Revolution, per the vet's orders. This was about 2 weeks ago, and within the last few days, 2 out 4 dogs have developed blisters around their mouths. The puppy that started everything does not have any. They do not seem to affect them very much, but one dog does not want to eat as well. Any help would be great! Thanks!

I am from Toronto, Canada. My cable provider is Rogers. I have Animal Planet and Discovery Channel but I can't find the Eukanuba 2006 Dog Show that is supposed to be shown at 8pm ET which is held live in Long Beach, California on 2nd and 3rd of December on my Animal Planet and Discovery Channel listing not at any time (the titles are different). Why is that? I don't want to miss the show. Can someone please help? Thank you!

I am concerned. I picked up a Labradodle puppy yesterday and he only lays around. I thought puppies were very curious creatures that had to be in everything. Especially a lab mix. Is he just getting comfortable or do you think I will have essentially a lap dog when I was looking for someone to run and play fetch with?

I live in a 1000 sq. ft. house. I am at work about 40 hours a week. I would be able to walk my dog once a day. My kids (a teenager and one 18 yr. old) could groom the dog once a week. I have a relatively small backyard and need a dog that is not going to tear up the inside of my house. I am at work about 13 hours a day three days a week. I previously had a dog and it was far too high energy and tore up the house. It's OK for a dog to be energetic as long as it does not get destructive. With all of this information, would a pug be good for me?

I have a black lab named Dakota. She was a rescue dog that we got from the Humane Society when she was about 8 months old.

She is now 7 years old, and ever since we've had her, she has had an odd fear of the kitchen in my home and any of the three bathrooms in my home.

If I go into the kitchen, she refuses to enter the kitchen, even if I try to offer her food.

The same goes for the bathroom...she will not go in no matter what.

One day, I got curious and picked her up and set her down in the middle of the kitchen. Much to my surprise, she cowered to the floor and *WOULD NOT MOVE* from the spot I had set her down. I left the kitchen for 5 minutes, and when I came back, she was still cowered down on the floor and had not moved an inch.

As soon as I picked her up and put her back outside the kitchen, she started acting normally again.

If she was abused as a pup, why would she continue to act this way now that she is no longer in the abusive home?

What is wrong with my baby? :*(

Just a strange question I was thinking of.

If he doesnt stop I will have to give him back, because I have been really sick, usually pets dont bother me at all but with all the shedding (Handfuls at a time) it has affected me. I asked the vet if it would stop, he said maybe or maybe not, he is a long haired cocker spaniel/spitz, and they get nervous and shed alot. Does anyone know anything to keep a dog from shedding that much.

I have a 3 year old golden retriever, at his check-up a few days ago the vet said that he is going to need surgery to screw his kneecap into place as it pops out. The Vet said he would need x-rays while sedated, then a specialist to look at the x-rays, surgery and I would assume some sort of rehab afterward. I was wondering if anyone elses dog has had to have this surgery, how the dog did afterwards and how much it cost??
Without the surgery the vet said he would have really bad arthritis starting at a young age and would have to be on pain medicine for the rest of his life and we do not want to put him through that. So please help!

Thank You all in advance!!

My dog has always been a house dog but the last two years her coat has gotten less and less heavy. She is in good health and eats very expensive food and takes vit. Is it milder winters? Different house lighting from the sun? With 5 years of age her body has gotten the idea she does not need a heavy coat?

Did you notice that there where NO "teacup" ANYTHINGS? That were NO"Chinese" pugs or "French" Poodles ? Or "english"/"british" Bulldogs?

See that NONE of the coated breeds were BUZZED?

That NONE were in harness?

None were dragging their handlers or fouling the ring or barking non-stop or fighting ?

If you watch the rest of the groups tonight, you'll note-amongst all the other facts-that there WON'T be any "pitbulls" in the Terrier Group. Or ..."miniature" St. Bernards in the Working Group,either.-LOL!!

We adopted a cocker spaniel on Wednesday. From Wednesday until early Saturday everything was fine. Late Saturday night, she went in her crate and has not come out-- not even for a walk. She growls everytime we speak to her or walk by her crate. I woke up this morning to find that she pooped all over the living room. I don't know if this is relevant but we did change her food Saturday because she would not eat the other food her former owner gave us. What is wrong with my dog?

Letting the dog run around the neighborhood thru the yards and streets because it won't stay in the yard or getting an invisible fence and using it to train the dog to stay home? I don't need a lecture about either, I just want intelligent opinions. I think it's unreasonable to expect every dog owner in the world to have the dog trained to stay in the yard without some barrier - invisible or not.
