This is very normal for such a young puppy that has just arrived into a new home. Just make sure to follow your vets recommendation on a vaccination schedule, feed a good food and crate train your puppy. Also, enroll in puppy class!
Oh and by the way congratulations on your new addition!

He's only 7 weeks old. Theyre nt very active for the first couple of months. You need to give him time to grow. They mostly sleep at this age, maybe play around a little. But in essence he's still an infant, and needs time to adjust to his new home, and his new life, but mostly to grow. technically puppies shouldnt leave their mother until 8 weeks, because theyre simply not developed well enough to.
If he's lethargic, having trouble getting around, or not eating well, take him to the vet.
Also, at 7 weeks he's either due for, or just had his first set of distemper shots, these shots make puppies groggy for a couple days.
he'll soon snap out of it, in a couple weeks or so.

I think that he is overwhelmed by what has happened. I mean he is in a new home and completely different area. I would be wiped out to!!!
Puppies are very curious but I think that he will be fine. (they like to eat, see, and smell everything.) The breeder/humane society/pet store people didn't tell you that he had any diseases or sicknesses did they?
If he doesn't get better take him to a vet. They will give you a professional opinion.

How old is your puppy?
You puppy is probably missing his previous surroundings.(Homesick)
Did you get the puppy from a reliable source of a friend?
Has the puppy started it's shots or is it possible that you got a sick puppy?
When I got my "Mutt" pupppy she slept alot, kinda like a baby but as the days went by she perked up and became a handful as most puppies are. Maybe this is what your puppy is doing.

How old is he? I've been dog sitting a Boxer pup since he was 3 months (another very active breed!), but the first month or so I took care of him, he was very sleepy and tired out very quickly. Young pups need a lot of sleep. As he got a little bit older, he started gaining that puppy energy.

when i got my Labradoodle puppy, she was depressed and um, well, constipated for a few days. give her about 2 days to re adjust to her enviornment because traveling can be very stressful for puppies. Do not be surprised if she doesnt eat for the first day of her new home. After she gets re adjusted she should be a small ball of energy!
If after five days, she doenst perk up call the vet to see whats up.

He may be sick. Take him to a vet. And the first answerer is also correct--puppies do need a lot of sleep, just like babies. And he may just be getting used to his new surroundings. Whatever the case, have your vet check him over to make sure it's not something medical. Above all, give him lots of love!

He will adjust, then you'll wish he was calmer! My Lab/Golden would sleep in another room by herself most of the day when I first got her, and would generally have a wild 10 mins or so then sleep again. Now she is the opposite. He's just had an overwhelming few days...you'd be shy if someone had sent you to live with strangers with no explanation, and no contact with your family.

Some dogs just aren't as active as others.
However, you should watch your pup to see if he appears lethargic. If he's just lying around because he can't run around, or he appears ill then have him checked by your vet to make sure he is healthy.
Also, talk to the breeder. The other pups in the litter might have been more active, indicating that you may have chosen the wrong one for your lifestyle.

take the puppy to the vet.
some disreputable breeders sell sick dogs.
if that is the case you can demand a refund.
if you dont want a refund then the dog will have to be treated for its illness anyway.
if you signed a contract, see what it says about your pup being sick
it is always a good idea to take a new puppy to the vet with in 24 hrs of purchase.
