We have a small Tibetan Spaniel - kind of like a pekingese - and she has a nice large tick right above her right eye. I've removed ticks from dogs before, but because this is so close to her eye, it's really problematic.

She shies away from the comb or tweezers. I've tried holding her head as absolutely still as possible but she wriggles her body, and then also has trouble breathing (they don't have that great nasal passages to begin with) and we're still afraid we're going to poke out her eye.

Short of taking her in to the vet are there any other ideas? We treated her with Revolution right near it, hoping that will eventually get rid of it, but we'd like to physically just remove it if possible.

Thank you to everyone that offered their advice. I would just like to clarify that I live in Spain so cannot rely on local charities and organisations as they are already overwhelmed. I have also checked all of my dogs for chips and tried to reunite them with their owners, only one was chipped and the owner has changed his number. The procedure is to take them to the Townhall and leave them there and denounce the owner and wait for a period of about 3 months before I can then 'adopt' the dog legally. In the case of the one that is chipped, she is terminally ill and needs a warm loving home, not to be locked up and held whilst her owner fails to retrieve her. Just yesterday I found a yorkie outside my house and he was cold, wet and had badly matted fur. I took him in, bathed him, cut his hair (his legs were covered with wire and twigs) and fed him and I have found him a new home this morning. I will be taking my possibly pregnant ***** to the vets this week so watch for installment 3!

She was coughing all night.,threw up 1.Is there a medicine for her to get rid of them faste,to dissolve them? Also is it better I don't feed her, since I'm afraid she'll want to throw up and the food will also want to go through thus preventing her from breathing?
Thank you.

My daughter has a puppy that is about 4 months old. About a week ago she was walking up the driveway from the bus, her puppy was trying to get to her from across my neighbors driveway. he just happened to be getting home at the same time, and hit the puppy. My daughter seen him do it, she says he didnt slow down, didnt try to avoid him or anything. I took him to the vet and he broke his leg. The vet bill was 130.00$ . I am a single mom that works two jobs just to try and make ends meet. I went to the neighbors house and asked for help with the bill( just help not the whole thing) He said he couldn't because of Christmas. Now his wife and him live in a very nice brick home with a two car garage, they have about 5 vehicles, and I know they could have helped a little. My question is .... Why are people soooo mean now ? He didnt even say he was sorry!!!

Believe me i feel terrible because I'm such an idiot. Anyway, Hes a shitzu.

I let him out to go pee and i got distracted by something and forgot. my brother herd him barking and we let him in, his feet and stomach had big clumps of snow attached. So i got some warm water and got rid of all the snow as soon as i could. (he was very tired and slowish looking)

I did my best to warm him up, he eventually got completely warm again and appears to be fine.

but hes acting kind of funny. not like his usual self. it might be nothing and he was just temporally stunned, is there something i should do? has anyone ever have this happen?

by the way, it wasn't that cold out, just normal cold.

OK without going into the morals of pro breeding I am determined to give my best friend the opportunity to be a mom. I chickened out on the last heat as she is a husky and I could only line up a 70kg malamout. I thought this might lead to complications although they were a great looking pair. Was I right?
