Everyone is going to tell you their own breed. Go to a rescue place, and find one that bonds with you... when you see the "best" one, you'll just know.

And by the way... Pitties are the best! :P

It really depends, over the years I have had a Black Labrardor, several Jack Russels, a Shitzu cross breed and more recently a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, Toy Poodles and a Beagalier. The Cavy was a very loyal compaion, suitable for a person who doesnt want a pounding dog, who wants to have a cuddle, the poodles are again a loyal dog, but you need to give a little time in their keeping (they need regular grooming and clipping) I have the Beaglier now and although she needs to be kept active as she's a puppy, she also have the Cavalier in her that makes her very loving indeed. I chose her as she was the only on with the same trate my Cavy had. All dogs make loving companions but it depends on you the owner really, do you want a big or small dog, are you willing to give the dog time, if so how much. They will all be lovly, as long as they are treated nicely. You hear about the "rough" dogs, thats only because people have giving them that title, because it's the "rough" people who see them as a fashion item. Chose a dog that's more like you.

The best breed of dog, depends on your lifestyle, how active you are, how long are you at work, and your family........even if you have a large yard for a bigger breed to run, It is very important to research all breeds. You do not want a hyper active dog, when you enjoy just reading or watching tv all the time, or if you aren't home alot a hyperactive dog will get inot all kinds of trouble...
And don't let an adorable puppy face sucker you in...cause I know there is nothing cuter than a puppy....but it might really be the wrong dog for you in the long run...... do some research please, it will pay off.

The best breed of dog is the MUTT! They have relatively few inborn breed weaknesses, are resilient and resourceful and well suited to be man's best friend.
Any dog you choose should be one you can take care of within your established lifestyle. Larger dogs need more exercize than small dogs. All dogs need healthy food, good training and daily exercize. If you provide this, you'll have a friend for life!

I would say depends on your overall lifestyle. If you have kids and don't mind large breed dogs, golden retrievers are excellent dogs. Very loyal and gentle as we have a child that plays with her all the time.

It depends on your lifestyle and all but I my fave breed is the miniature australian shepherd aka the north american shepherd. I can't think of anything bad about that breed. Not many people know about them but they are really a breed worth looking into.

Schnauzer
Great dogs! Well mannered, loyal, obedient, great with kids and all around inside dog. Train them or just work with them a little and you are their best friend. A wonderful pet. Don't indulge them on pig ears! They are prone to pancreatic disorders that causes diabetes.

Chihuahua (the nicest pup. sits on my lap all day.) GReat Dane (My fav of the bunch. He needs behavior lessons though. He's my father's dog)

Best for what? To hunt rats? try the terrier breeds. For rescue work, try labs and German shepherds. For racing, greyhounds, for hunting lions, Rhodesian Ridgebacks. What do you want, hon?
