You'll definately need some help then. Here's what I do with our dogs:

1) lay him on one side
2) have someone get a good hold on the legs closest to the floor because those are the legs he will use to try to get up off the floor. make sure to hold the upper part of the legs tightly and he shouldn't be able to get up
3) Whoever is holding those legs, have them rest their weight on the dogs body (it shouldn't hurt him if he's as big as you say)
4) if your dog is nippy, I would have another person holding his jaws shut for safety
5) then have someone else clip the nails

sorry if this is unclear, it's kind of hard to explain online
good luck!

Wait until he's tired out first. Have him laying on his side. If he's nervous about it, start by spending time handling his paws, then hold the clippers close to his nails andjust pretend to cut so he gets used to the sound. When he's ok with that, just clip a tiny bit off the ends of a few nails. Now it depends on your dog, usually they settle down when they realize they're not going to be hurt. This way is much less stressful than having somebody hold down your dog. That's sending him the message that he should be worried. Take it slow - he should be ok.

No good way to do it (my experiance has taught me) if you do it at a very slow pace and let the dog see what your doing they will usually remain calmer it takes a long time this way but works. The other way which works the best is to take the dog to the groomer & let them do it they are all about grooming and have time tested techniques that work. If you dont want to schill 50$ every month or every 2 weeks try asking a groomer what techniques will work on big pups the best.

I would take him to the groomers- they do walk in nail clips for $5 bucks down the road, it is worth it to me to NOT cut the quick. My dog sees me open the drawer where the clippers is kept and she hides under the table-even if it is not time to do it, but she sits still for someone else-go figure!.

OMG 200 pounds? I thought I had it though with our two dogs when they need their nails trimmed and they are only 6 and 15 pounds. I take my dogs to the Vet and have him trimm the nails for me. Good luck.
200 pounds...OMG...does he sleep in bed with you? LOL

My Saints are taught to lay down and roll over easier to manage. I have one that just doesn't like to oblige so it does take two of us to do it.

Try giving him Beer. He will get drunk and pass out, then you can trim his nails, if you not pass out too. His size, he may be able to drink you under the table. Good Luck.
