any advice on how to train mini schnauzers

I have to disagree with Lou B. Schnauzers (of any size) are intelligent enough to get themselves in a LOT of trouble. They can overdo it with their "guard dog" nature and drive you crazy with barking. SOME training is necessary. And reinforcement is also necessary! Our Ty-doggie is always testing to see if the "rules" are still enforced. He's very smart. I love the breed.

Get a book from your local library about dog training. There are even a few dedicated to smaller breeds! Find one that works, then go buy it, you'll want to have it around in the future. The most important piece of advice, make sure the dog knows that you are boss. You need his respect (not out of fear) and attention to train him successfully.

Good luck!

A well-trained dog makes everyone happy, including his owner. Take a little time training him, and you'll never regret it; you'll always have an obedient dog by your side. Find more https://tr.im/46gPt

By their nature, dogs are pack animals with a well-defined social order. Through basic training, you need to consistently make sure your puppy understands that you are the leader, not him. So in teaching him the basic rules, you take on the role of pack leader.

To fit into the family circle, your dog must be taught to recognize his name and such commands as come, heel, lie down and sit.

I'm not an expert but my Dad had 3. They hardly need any training at all as they are so good-natured and affectionate. You have many years of good times ahead.
