Depends on the type of worms. At 4 weeks they are most likely round worms and an over the counter medication will work.

Otherwise take him to the vet they can give you a wormer that will kill several varieties.

First of all I would like to know if your pup has had any puppy shots? If it has, they should have given a dewormer when they did it. If this is the case then it can take a while for the worms to completely go away because it has to pass all the segments, if it's tapeworms, out of it's system. If it didn't get a dewormer then ask your vet for dewormer pills. You should only have to treat once depending on how bad the infestation is. It's more than likely tapeworms if you are seeing them, they look like rice in the poop. After you treat, again, remember that you will still see the segments for a while but if they aren't gone in at least two weeks they you may have to treat again.

Take it to the vet. Over the counter wormers do not treat all worms. You need to be sure that a fecal test is done and all the worms that need treatment are identified.

I hope that this puppy is still with it's litter and mom, and that you did not take a 4 week old pitbull puppy home.

If you did take a 4 week old pitbull puppy home, please email me so I can help you. You will need to do extra work to make sure this puppy grows up well rounded and sound.

At four weeks old, that puppy is much too young to be away from it's mother, let alone get any of the life saving vaccinations. I would definately suggest a trip to the vet for an overall physical and help with raising the puppy from this age. Dogs seperated from their mothers at this age will often have behavioral issues as they get older. Good luck.
